So just as some blessed relief from Jack trying to type in a Northern accent and because I was VagueGrunking yesterday… is this “series” she was on about just the segment on Lorraine? Because much as I joked about it being another “gig of a lifetime that turned out to be interviewing a footballer who clearly hates her in a school canteen” I thought it might actually be something good this time? Lol. Given Jack’s vitriol towards people who watch daytime TV (what was it again, “sitting watching Jeremy Kyle in a tracksuit eating a burger”?) she can’t genuinely be happy with the booking.

Of course, she’ll be happy with the fee to top up her allowance from the PaytreonPigs. But it’s a bit of a letdown when I was expecting some kind of budget Nigella Bites*

*now with added lint!

In the last thread, Jack spent a lot of money on a rock tumbler for SB that she won't let him play with

She cooked a disgusting plate of various legs/hearts that had been lugged around in a backpack for over 90 minutes- exact recipe TBC

She told an improbable anecdote about being the only person in the world (aside from Martin Lewis) currently talking about poverty and the cost of living

She blamed her awful personality on being tired from reading the DMs that she specifically asked people to send her.

She did/did not (delete as applicable) declare which charities will receive the remaining funds from her Teemill site.

I don't think she is, which is why she hasn't made a big announcement about it on twitter, despite telling a squig she'd do so as soon as she was able. She's also just one third of the 'Savers Squad' so she won't like that, and hasn't so much as mentioned her co-presenters. I wonder if she's even following them on twitter, you'd have thought there would be some pre-series bantz.

I lived through the 'ice on the bedroom window' scenario as well, like many (probably the majority) of Brits in the '60s, '70s and '80s. Coal had to be paid for Jack, it wasn't cheap, and most people dreaded a long hard winter. We also paid a heavy price in terms of pollution leading to many deaths from respiratory conditions (OK, smoking was also massively to blame here).
Sitting in front of a cosy coal fire didn't really take that hardship away.

Another North Eastern frau here 🔺 She's pissing me off too.
I can't quite put my finger on why. Something about the total lack of nuance, context, depth of thought of Jack's approach to poverty.

Poverty in inner city London is a very different beast to poverty in a post-industrial County Durham community. There's overlap, but the causes, effects and solutions will be different.

I don't and won't vote Tory and I voted remain. But the people of Blyth Valley chose to vote Tory after decades and decades of Labour. The people of Sunderland voted for Brexit despite the importance of Nissan there. You can whine on twitter about "GET THE EVIL TORIES OUT" and label everyone who voted for Brexit a stupid racist orrrrrr you can engage your brain and make some sort of effort to understand why the people of Blyth and Sunderland exercised their right to vote in a way you don't like, and maybe, just maybe, they have done so in response to multifaceted, complex social and economic dynamics that you have never bothered to think about.

I don't really know what point I'm making, except Jack should shut up.

Please can a funny frau follow this with a song or ridiculous photoshop, please, I'm being a right fun sponge.

There's a flat greyness to her. It sucks the life out of everything she touches. Her intonation reflects her own poverty of soul and no amount of money or houses will compensate for that. Sali Hughes is the same. By the time they've both finished with something (whatever it is), it's devoid of its previous joy and pleasure.

You can discuss poverty without making your audience want to throw itself from the nearest bridge; in fact, an essential communication skill when you are discussing unpleasant and difficult things is to do the opposite. She is unable to address her subject with any kind of proportion or groundedness. Can you imagine MH staff being the same? All their patients/clients would be dead from hopelessness in weeks

We all know the other people doing the series will be tonnes better than her with much better tips. I wonder if her segment will be cut down to five mins.

Omg I hope she tweets one of their partners like “sorry for stealing her from you!!!”. Wait, she won’t, because they’re both women and Jack’s the definition of a ‘pick me’ girl.

I still haven’t recovered from seeing that Lisa Tebbutt follows that Twitter account. Lisa, please just send us a coded message with a ballpark figure of what Jack will have been paid for DKL and I’ll send a magnum of the least tit champagne I can afford to a P.O. Box of your choice.
