Has Jack seriously thought that was a funny thing to tweet? Jack Monroe - voice of the poors??
Is this not quite poor timing? Considering that some people still are living in houses without central heating, with only single glazing (as Jack herself knows how cold it can be), struggling to eat and to heat their homes??

I'm not that old but I still remember single glazing, no central heating and constant condensation or ice on the inside of the windows. The day we got double glazing was amazing! No breeze through the window!
 
So, fraud, I just saw a lovely kitchen reno pop up on my Instagram feed and my first thought was, ooh Jacks kitchen could look like this. Then I had to get some comparison pics. In any case, that original tweet was exactly how I grew up. Except you didn't scratch patterns in the ice on the inside of the window because it made the room warmer, as it blocked all the draughts that came in through the frame.

Not to mention that beyond the precarity faced by residents in places with e.g. car manufacturers, which is often male-coded and thus at least well paid and valued, there is a massive problem with slave labour in manufacturing, particularly garment production (female-coded and thus undervalued). There are places in the UK, under our noses, where people - mostly migrant women - are working for nothing or little more than free, coerced and assaulted by factory owners, exhausted. Some of us will be wearing clothes they’ve made.

Like I know she’s trying to shitpost but she’s a) not funny b) tone deaf and c) utterly humourless herself so why should we indulge her?

As with all Jacks attacks (even humorous ones), it's knowing how badly she'd react if the shoe were on the other foot that sticks in the throat.

It is but she’s the ultimate elevenerifer so it’s a ridiculous lack of self-awareness at best.

Also the reason the Python sketch was so funny was that at the time quality of life had markedly improved for basically everyone. Social housing was still a thing, people were enjoying a better standard of living than ever before, things like central heating had become widespread. It was funny (and extremely British) that people couldn’t just enjoy that and feel lucky. That’s just not the case anymore and she’s supposed to be sensitive to that.

Anyway I’m turning into Helen Lovejoy now. I promise I do have a sense of humour. She’s just a bleep of the highest order.

I have a very dark sense of humour, and I find a lot of random crap funny. I do also remember most Monty Python stuff.

I just find that kind of thing coming from Jack, considering what and who she claims to advocate for pretty piss poor taste. She can post a Monty Python sketch.......but she cannot post any legit advice about the period poverty thing she apparently did the other day, or energy saving tips that she's allegedly so good at?
She's just a knob.
