Wow. I've been watching this unfold in disbelief. Jack now seems happy to shake the tip jar very noisily since Nigella enabled her, I think for a time she was a bit more ashamed to do it after the Tattle threads started to hold her to account.
She's clearly now 'earning' far more than most people in full time work, certainly a lot more than me, and she must have another income source too because how has she been affording that sky-high rent all this time? Maybe LJC finally pulled the plug and said she couldn't subsidize Jack anymore and then Jack confided in Nigella how she was nearly homeless? I would just love to know what's happened behind the scenes.
Also I find it a bit odd that Jack's parents have a property portfolio but they've not put Jack in one of them to save her paying a small fortune on rent every month. Could be a number of reasons but maybe they're not up to jacks perfecting standards?
I feel like there will be a tipping point, there's only so many patroen subscribers she can get before it's clear she's making more money than could possible be justifiable. What will it be, 800, 900, who knows but i think eventually if she's keeping her profile up in the media something has to kick off.
Those who are struggling in our society do need a voice and maybe she is having some impact by being a foghorn. But is pushing food prices down really the answer. I know it has already been said but it's housing costs that are really crippling to lower and even middle income households these days. Rent can take up a huge chunk of earnings and it's not like it NEEDS to cost that much, it's just enriching landlords, wouldn't it be nicer if rent was more affordable and so people had the disposable income to buy decent food not 13p tins of spaghetti hoops. even where people have housing benefit that's just taxpayers money being funnelled to private landlords. Frequently badly insulated which pushes up heating bills, a lot of bad housing stock in the UK, i'd really like to see her address this issue if shes truly giving 'the poor' a voice.
