I really want this to be about Jack’s foray into “what is to be done about asylum seekers needing food?”

It’s probably not, but I live in hope.

Just a spoiler, Jack, if you’re reading (lol, of course you are): the answer is not more pointless media appearances from Jack Monroe. Shocking though it may seem, your choice to leave your very stable job in a huff is not the same as being terrorised by your nation state and being treated like a second class citizen wherever you end up having fled said terror.

This made me genuinely laugh out loud! 👏🏻🤣👏🏻 @peperomides

Babe, same. This is exactly the kind of silly joke I live for. I'm glad other frauen said Allegra is attractive, I quite fancy her tbh, even with the Lego helmet haircut. I have a bit of a thing for women who cook (see also: Nigella, Rachel Khoo, Kylie Kwong).

Thanks to @HotesTilaire as well for putting the 'Onion Police' earworm in my head. All bloody day I've been hearing

Onion police
Arrest this man
He talks in maths
He buzzes like three fridges
He's like six radios (all tuned to different stations)

I loved Slopbot’s onion song. It was pleasingly leftfield and wouldn’t be at all out of place in some avant-garde film about the onion police.

Rachel Khoo is absolutely gorgeous. No tiny violins were harmed in the making of Little Paris Kitchen, and no crowdfunding or Patreons needed to club together buy her a bigger one.

It's absolutely mad when you think about it. She built this whole thing - career, prolonged grifting session, whatever you want to call it - from throwing a hissy fit and walking out of her job at the Fire Service. Daddy wouldn't/couldn't get her job back so she decided to struggle on benefits to spite them. Sure, relations with them seem to have improved slightly, but Sunday lunches must still have some seriously awkward undertones.

The whole thing is so fucked up. I'm very good friends with a woman whose wife transitioned when their kids were little. There was none of this nonsense. Both adults made the children their priority. Kids have the right to ask questions and use language that they are familiar and comfortable with when one of their parents goes through a big change. There is nothing wrong with that! There is nothing to forgive!

I don't believe a word in those columns. They don't ring true in the slightest. My son was about the same age when one of his closest friend's mum became a dad. There were surprisingly few questions, but the ones that arose did not involve the word '******' or wild speculation about genitalia. But even if he had asked about whether X's mum now has a penis and not a vagina, well, I think it's a normal question to ask from a child, given that their reference point is 'boys have a penis, girls have a vagina*.

*Frauen, please don't come at me with vulva talk, ok? I'm in my 40s. It's all vagina to me.
Key phrase here is ‘made the child their priority’ clearly not the case for JM !

Can anyone recommend a good home IPL device for use on the face? For some reason when I hit 35 last year my body decided that all these random hairs would come out to play.

Rude tbh! 😂

The braun silk is really good you use it once a week for 4 weeks then once every month. At 285 it's a bit pricey. If it's just your face. The no no it's quite good and doesnt make u stubbley x

I’ve got this one and it’s definitely helped with the hairs on my chinny chin chin (which randomly appeared after SB2 was born) just give a maintenance zap every few weeks now

edit 🥕
edit 2 - brown hair/paleish skin

It would be quite time consuming to do a larger area but hoping to try it on my pits at some point

That Phillip's lumea is i think £250 in argos btw it might be a slightly different model

Chin?

More like your whole face when you hit 35.

Electrolysis hasn’t touched mine so the tweezers are out every time I pass a mirror few weeks.

I was just about to say this! I never used to have to pluck random hairs out of my face until late 20s/early 30s. Don’t women just get hairier with age due to hormones anyway?! My nanny used a mini men’s electric razor on her little patch (CHIN!!) while watching telly 🤮 I guess one good thing about getting old is that you can sit shaving your face and no one minds.

In one article about her transition, it was claimed that her voice was now an octave lower. I'm not musical, but isn't an octave quite a big difference? And I don't hear any difference in her voice between now and before allegedly taking testosterone.

She also has no evidence of male pattern baldness, rough skin, big jaw or brow bone, or any other things that develop with T use.

Edit: so she claims that she has a few extra hairs on her chin that will never go away. Has she not heard of electrolysis? Everything is so dramatic with her.

Music degree here 🔺

an octave would have been quite a significant jump.... potentially her range would have dropped lower but to suggest her voice has just shifted an octave is quite a claim. If anything if that had been the case the results would be still noticeable. I know a girl who dabbled in steroids/testosterone a brief while due to body building when younger and thankfully doesn’t any more. She has quite a deep voice still and this is 7-8 years later. Thankfully there is no long term impact as she now has a baby so although her voice is deep she didn’t suffer extreme impacts of taking them.

also, those extra chin hairs.... welcome to your 30’s jack!

Thanks for the reply. I thought an octave lower sounded ridiculous.

Singing seems really dear to Jack, so I highly doubt she would have risked ruining her voice by taking testosterone.
