I totally get what you all mean. However I was getting a little bored of the same old dresses just in different colour (abercrombie) so I don't mind seeing her trying to go out of her comfort zone. What I do think it pretty crap is her trying on ITS clothing as its a fast fashion tit show of a company and I can't really see how she can go from £90 dresses and good old M&S to the crap ITS produces.

She needs to stick to the mid price market where it's decent quality and she actually does love the product.

Lauren if you read here, please don't be a sell out!

She's bothered me a bit today with the whole don't disclose your weight stuff. I personally think it's encouraging people that it's fine to be fat and that healthy isn't important. Yeah sure, Lauren is bouncy, generally looks fab and really healthy plus she seems like she has loads of energy and may genuinely not care what she weighs but there are women out there who aren't in the same boat and surely by refusing to disclose your weight then you are choosing to ignore that you potentially have health issues. Also, I tell people I don't know what I weigh because I'm overweight, but I do - to the ounce!!! I don't have a problem with my doctor knowing though, he can see I have some ballast on me!

There is a lot of weight stigma in medicine and sadly some doctors will take one look at the weight on your form and tell you to go away and diet without taking the time to consider your other symptoms and give proper medical advice. So I understand why she’s sharing it.

sometimes your weight is relevant and needed eg for anaesthetic doses. But other times it’s not relevant to your medical issue and you are totally within your rights not to provide it.

I do see your point here. It's just never occurred to me to refuse and I still wouldn't.

I get your point but I think she's trying to say you have a choice and sometimes weight is medically relevant but other times it doesn't matter and if it's going to make you feel bad about yourself you don't need to disclose.

For example, I went the GP with tonsillitis, my weight really has no bearing on how that is treated. If I went with sore knees, it's worth talking about my weight because extra pressure on the joints would be contributing. Just like if was a smoker with asthma I'd expect the doc to suggest I stop because of the correlation.

But there are times when the non- medical community (which I would be part of ) wouldn't be fully aware of, besides the obvious like anaesthetics etc. Friend of mine went to a doctor to discuss fertility/ trying to get pregnant. When doctor asked her her weight , friend went off on a rant. Doctor had to explain she needed to know her weight as to see whether she needed to be on a higher dosage of folic acid only available on prescription (Ireland ). She did. So while I can understand elements of Lauren's point, I would be of the opinion, if a doctor asks you a question, you answer it so they have all the information needed to care effectively for you.

I don’t think it needs the rant, but I would feel comfortable asking the doctor why it was relevant to the specific conversation we were having. I also don’t agree with Lauren’s approach of a blanket refusal.

I have found it fairly effective to say I’m fine with them weighing me during an appointment and recording the information, but I have a history of disordered eating and knowing my exact weight isn’t always a helpful thing for me.

It's the disordered eating side I really hadn't thought of. I just think it's so easy to just deny to yourself what's going on with your weight because it's easier not to know. As I said, Lauren looks great. She's evidently fit and healthy but look at someone like Laura A - she can hardly walk to the end of the road without going grey and breaking out in a sweat and you know she is the kind of person this is aimed at.

This is what irritates me about her...on the one hand she gives it all the 'I'm poor' shtick...on the other she's always spending money on new clothes, house tat, etc. I wouldn't buy one of those Abercrombie dresses, I think they're far too expensive, yet I think she has at least 4/5.
If you can afford 4 x £70+ dresses, don't complain you have no money!

I generally like her but on one of the podcasts she claimed to be having to choose between heating or eating which kind of put me off her. Knowing she had multiple New York holidays and Laura telling her off for always buying expensive Pret lunches, and all the clothes buying etc, made it very icky that she would say she had to choose between food and heat.

Makes me question how much of it is genuinely bought and how much if gifted / rewarded in kickbacks that actually makes the spend very minimal. Encouraging overspending in other people is so irresponsible too.

I do kind of understand her frustrations not being able to find a particular dress in plus sizes but honestly, if she thinks nothing has changed in that market then she is mad. I remember when there was ONE shop to buy clothes from. One. It was take it or leave it. To say things are the same now is simply not true. Also, she is a size 20 and often fits into an 18. The choice for her, as opposed to someone who is a size 26 or bigger, is immense.

And yes, she could wear one of her very lovely A&F dresses. At £90 a pop they deserve an airing
