Your empathy is something I've noticed time and time again, and it's admirable. I feel a twinge of it too, but after everything that's been said and done it's so hard to hold on to in this situation. they are always limited, 1-5 years (hence why they wrote "at least" a year), the judge decides. A few months before it runs out you can keep extending it (without much trouble) and at some point actually turn it really permanent
