Totally agree with addiction not being an excuse but there will always be those that claim it is. I have some personal experience of this, having been punched and kicked while on the ground by a well-known public figure in a public place. Memories were stirred because he's promoting a book and I saw an ad. Therapy has helped me to deal with that and other things so finally felt brave enough to report it to the police (didn't want to at the time as just wanted to forget about it) but apparently I had left it too long to report. Made a general comment underneath one of his book promotion posts about his history of violent behaviour and all his female fans piled on to defend him because he had addictions at the time. I guess that means it's ok to go around beating people up then 🙄

Can you give us a clue as to who it was if you don’t want to name them?

In my experience the most judgemental people are usually the ones who don’t just have a few skeletons in their closet, rather a whole fucking cemetery. I know Ive said and done things in my past that I’m not proud of. I think everyone deserves a second chance.
I agree. Except boy George though, he’s had a few chances, and proves every time he’s a vile human. Plus he’s just annoying and his holier than thou attitude is getting boring

Also, does anyone know what language Babatunde's name comes from? He has acute accents on the Es in his first and second names, but I've never seen an acute accent on a U before. Is it a stress accent? Im sure someone will know :)
It’s from the Yoruba language, which is spoken in southwest and central Nigeria. It means ‘father returns’ and is used as a tribute to a deceased relative as far as I can tell. Babatúndé’s full name is Ahmed Babatúndé Olusegun Aléshé so he goes by a middle name professionally.

This article is interesting if anyone's interested hearing from the guy himself that BG served time for beating and false imprisonment : https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/man-chained-wall-boy-george-28418460

I don't know why but I assumed he was tied up for hours/days by BG, but it was actually a total of 30 mins  he was also an escort and drug user, hardly whiter than white himself. BG also denies ever beating him with a chain. But the guy says he is traumatised by the incident, however he's happy to sell his story to the Mirror. It's all a very grey area imo that we will never know the full story about.

So it’s ok to abuse sex workers then is that what your trying to say?! Have a word with yourself!

George and his chanting… then his backstabbing, he won’t be the poster boy(george) for Nichiren Buddhism anytime soon…

I am so sorry that happened to you. But yeah shocking how some people can think addiction is a free pass to get away with anything. There is no excuses at all

And we are taking boy George’s word for it. A convicted criminal. Doesn’t matter how long he was tied up for and obviously beat. There was enough evidence to charge him. No excuses and that man being sex worker doesn’t mean he deserved that. Just wow. You know that this is most likely not the only incident. There have been loads more that was circling before boy George was finally charged. Some of the replies on this post are just ridiculous. No wonder so many don’t come forward to report abuse. Remember jimmy saville. People covering his arse and the victims knew they would never be believed so kept quiet for years.. Seems like things are still the same

A grey are even though BG was found guilty and was convicted?

🤦‍♂️

(There are clearly some people on this forum who don't know their arse from their elbow, concerning what is morally right and wrong).

So it's morally right for someone to be shunned by society the rest of their life for commiting a crime they may or may not have done, but paid time for anyway and has moved on and lived a clean life since. I'm not the one who doesn't know their moral arse from their elbow.
