Since it might well be weeks nay months before we’ll get new goss, I’m sharing this find:

Did anyone watch this program (“Huw Edwards at 60” on S4C)? I wonder if his wife and kids were featured at all?

What strikes me is:

1. he seems very close to his mum. I wonder if she knew?
2. I guess he’s always been a bit camp! 😄
3. but also insecure about his appearance?

I haven’t seen it but would be very interested to know that too.

His mum definitely had to know or at least she must have very strongly suspected. 😂 She seems so sweet. Hopefully she’s being shielded from the more malicious posts and comments on social media. Surprisingly enough though, most people on Reddit have been very supportive of Huw.

He’s maybe a bit insecure about his age too in this one 🤣:

@ItsDatCuw could you please point me towards the active HE reddit discussions? 🕵🏻‍♀️

So these are two of the most recent threads with the most comments. The latest replies on these were posted around a month ago though, so I’m not sure if there are any that are actually active atm, although sometimes his name will come up in a random thread. Any negative comments about him seem to get downvoted quite quickly by Team Huw 😁

I recently spoke to a couple of legal eagles who are in the arts and entertainments contracts industry. They said the way HE disappeared is exactly the best route and there could have been no other way suggested to him by the very best minds. They also said the best thing he can do is stay silent *forever* and that any potential police inquiries or criminal charges will absolutely have been held in abeyance until he's declared 'fit' and that this day may never come if he's got the best of a sympathetic private psychiatrist to do his bidding. I say sympathetic as it's not being implied that psychiatrists are criminal masterminds on behalf of their clients but heh they could go a long way to looking like that.

Also, they speculated should he become 'well' enough to negotiate his termination of contract with the BBC quietly, which is a private and confidential matter, and should the police not have anything to question him about and should he choose to not ever make any public statements or speak to the press... it's quite possible he may disappear, never be heard of again.

Made a lot of sense to me.

It definitely makes sense. As you say, he may just quietly “retire” at this point.

If that happens, would we even hear the outcome of the BBC’s internal investigation, I wonder? I mean would it still be considered as something of public interest, if he’s “retired” and is no longer in the public eye?

I just can’t see how he could actually disappear unless he literally moves to a different country. Paps would be relentless in snapping pics anytime he goes for coffee or walks his dog for the first few months.

I could see him moving to France though. Close enough to his kids in England and his mum in Wales but far enough away from the UK (gutter) press?

He’s in Wales isn’t he?

I think the press would have to argue that it's in the public interest on the basis of his previous position, that the BBC is effectively the 'state broadcaster', also that the BBC represents the face of Great Britain in international news affairs and reporting, plus the BBC is answerable to the licence fee payer which pretty much equals Joe Public.

I doubt the BBC investigation drew total blanks and HE's conduct already falls within the remit of unacceptable for his role but would they have anything that would be firmly considered a crime, I wonder? Also the BBC has to balance out whether they're bringing themselves into disrepute by broadcasting details of grubby 'inadvisable but not criminal' behaviour and raising the whole issue again.

So... all we can do is sit back and wait. He could be gone for a long long time and we may all forget.
