@emerald - they have completely changed Alicent’s character. The teal/blue of her dresses creeping in again are symbolic of her turning away from House Hightower. In early season 1 she wore blue dresses to represent her mother Alerie Florent (House Florent’s sigil was a red fox surrounded by blue flowers). I’m a little disappointed tbh because she had some really epic lines in the book when she was fully Team Green, and now I don’t see how they’ll be able to include them. She would’ve given Cersei a run for her money, put it this way. I do like that they’ve made all the characters have nuance to them but I was really ready to love/hate the Alicent of later S1. Olivia played her so well, her resentment and anger. Now idk where they’re going with her, it feels like she could jump ship at any moment and join Team Black. 🥴
 
Alicent is such an aimless character that I don’t see a way the can change her now in a believable way. The killing of her grandson should have turned her into a fierce fighter, but she was over it as soon as she saw Aegon cry. She has no ambition, no power and no allies. She doesn’t even love her kids. Cersei in all her evilness loved her children and did all kinds of things for them.
So as a non-book reader I’m just left to wonder what the purpose of Alicent‘s character is.
 
This was a good episode, but not a great finale to make people wait two years. And these forced Alicent/Rhaenyra encounters always lead to absolutely nothing. I know they want the actresses in scenes together, but come on. And Alicent remains the biggest hypocrite, but of course wouldn’t let Rhaenyra call her out.
I’ve already seen people say Fabien Frankel‘s acting was amazing in this episode 😳 I’ve never heard an actor with a more monotonous voice. The man cannot act.
Most interesting thing was seeing Otto held captive. I want to know who did it.
Also, did Heleana spoil the entire series? I haven’t read the books, so that was fun haha

She definitely spoiled Aemond’s death. Girl was done being cryptic.

It was a decent episode but yeah, not what you want from a finale. As disappointing as I found the later seasons of GoT, at least you always knew the finale and penultimate would be top tier. I hate to say it but I’m disappointed.
 
When the episode started and it said the warning for strong language.. I was like umm what about the violent scenes?! Not even any scenes of a sexual nature..?

I was ready for disappointment after that 🙃 it makes sense that even though the episode leaked last week, it was easy to avoid spoilers 🤣

Do we reckon that Larys took Aegon without Alicent finding out, or did she purposefully double cross Rhaenyra? And why is Otto locked up somewhere 🤣
