The producers/channel 4 (idk how much involvement they have?) would have been well aware the cull was coming way before it was reported and they hired them anyway, knowing they were going to get rid of Steph. She spoke out. What about Jamie (Warren)? Or any of the other people leaving?

Edit: just checked via the Metro (lol) and the cut to three episodes was reported a month before the report of Freddie returning. And I’m sure Hannah and Robbie were later than him.

tbh, the soaps across the board haven’t got a great balance of bringing iconic characters back after periods of times

edit: I never saw Hannah as an iconic character like I did Clare, but Hannah was centre of major storylines during Peak Hollyoaks
