I think the family are in the process of re-doing/having building work done on the house. I can understand wanting to have the house as clean as possible while building work is going on- but in general their house just seems too clinical.

I think Hollys parents have also been doing a lot of DIY work on the house so it’s understandable why it’s taking them so long to get everything done.

I wish she’d get a hobby! I know she’s a good dancer but she never seems to take much artistic pleasure in it; she’s more concerned with technique and also it feeds into her obsession with food and exercise. she ‘learned to read’ during quarantine but again seemed to treat it like some kind of challenge to be hacked through rather than enjoyed. I don’t get the sense that she’s particularly creative and I really think she might get something out of trying something more ‘arty’. Just do something for fun holly!

it's so odd she has no hobbies/interests. I don't get what she does with all of her time, especially now she's not studying? Does she ever just sit down and watch a film or tv show?

Just looked at her insta as I'm bored, surely it is impossible that UCL leave acceptances until this late? That would give no time to find accomodation etc, unless it is different this year because of everything? I think if she is still waiting for a reply this seems quite naive/unlikely

exactly, her new reading hobby comes across as something other 'productivity youtubers' do like ali abdaal, thomas frank...like something to challenge your brain in the early mornings or before going to sleep rather than something to fully enjoy

I would be very surprised if she got an offer for this academic year if I'm honest, as it's so late and the course was obviously very popular. I'm surprised that she's not being more proactive about chasing it up, but then she's mostly at fault for leaving applying to the last possible minute.

If she gets an offer for 2021, she'll probably just carry on tutoring and potentially change her mind a couple more times.

Tbh I think she's never really had a chance to become a well rounded person/has never really wanted to because she hates trying new things that she can't control obsessively and is 'safe' in academia, where she assumes she'll always get the top marks etc. I think that's why she was so defensive/cocky about TUM's rejection, because they implied that her research and (possibly) her general CV/life experience weren't really MA material for them. STEM subjects really require you to be creative and open minded, particularly at postgrad level!

by the way, what are your opinions on her "work wednesdays" and her filming live on youtube? i think it's a good idea, people like elena handtrack used to do that during the exams period, it's a way to motivate other people to work/study along with you... however, it may affect her negatively, i think she exposes her life too much already (?)

Some unis are doing Jan starts for post graduate courses in 2021 because of COVID, so it may still be a possibility.
ah okay that would make more sense

The UCL course starts in September, it says on their website. At this point there's no way she's going.

My friend applied for another UCL MA course starting in September too and the closing date for applications for that course was sept 4. Don’t think it’s fair to say Holly has no chance now just because she hasn’t heard back yet.

I'd say it's very very very unlikely as the closing date for her course was 11/08. It must be hard for her with no concrete plan, but I wish she'd just say that and be honest. But then, with so little experience in the real world - who can blame her for not knowing?

is this for this year?! is so this seems crazy as finding accomodation etc is so hard

The course says it's oversubscribed and people will be put on the 2021 course and applications closed early for it. I think she would have heard by now if she was getting in or not.
