According to Lady Colin Campbell Archie was a name the toffs traditionally used as a dogs name.

When I was a nipper, there a couple of Uncles whose names were Archibald and then it seemed to die out until now.

Hurricane Laura is due to hit the Louisiana coast tonight as a major category 3 hurricane. That’s sustained wind speeds between 111-129mph with gusts higher. This thing has the potential to do a fuckton of damage. To put this into perspective, think hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the damage it did. Although Katrina was a cat 5 it reduced to cat 3 before making landfall.

I really hope @Momof5intheStates and family has either evacuated or are bunkered down to ride it out. ❤

I had to actually look up who Gloria Steinem was and now I realise why I didn’t know. At some point since the late 1960s I must have made a conscious decision to not make space for her in my head the minute she aligned herself with Jane Fonda. A gaggle of cunts right there who have no rent free space in my head. I never bought into the whole feminist thing. Sections of it obviously, such as equality, but all the other tit that went with it has done women a general disservice IMO. They saw women becoming equal to men by the process of actually breaking men’s balls. Hence, at this point we have, for the main part, generation after generation of seemingly emasculated men. I’d despair if we ever had to go to war again, there seems to be a distinct lack of testicles around. Also just my opinion. This intimate little convo between herself and thundercunt just proves to me how right my spider senses were. I’m guessing they have nothing to say I’d want to hear.

They were evacuating to Houston yesterday afternoon. She was feeling pretty stressed with it all but Ive asked her to keep us informed.

Harry had a huge chip on his shoulder, for a number of reasons - Diana, William, being second in line, his 'lack of privacy' i.e. his lack of privacy to do stupid things like dress as a nazi or play naked billiards and nobody find out about it, Diana, his perpetual war with the media over coverage of anything that's less than flattering, Diana, and actually any basic criticism at all.

He is a terminal spoiled brat who presumably holds his family responsible for not getting enough special treats - what's the betting he always had to get a present when it was William's birthday? - he wants total adoration, no coverage from the media unless it is slathering praise on one of his contradictory vanity projects, and apparently holds the public in the same disregard that Marie Antoinette did.

With his choice of wife - seemingly talentless but shrewd and manipulative - he now has another host of causes to stamp his foot behind, racism, sexism, feminism, family, and she is behind him with cattle prod every step of the way to remind him why it is everyone else that is the problem.

And as we can see he is ultimately becoming irrelevant in his own borrowed household, which he will still undoubtedly view and everyone elses fault.

i went onto the YouTube sussex squad videos and they call her “Queen” and Archie”King”.
Also thé accents On thé podcasts are not American but sound maybe South African.
i remember back in the day, on mumsnet, a South African woman said that m at black women of colour we’re proud of her and prepared to forgive her “mistakes” as she had managed to “rise to the top” and she represented black women.

i reckon when they were in SA and Harry went to Angola, she was busy rounding up support. I heard she did some paid engagements there too.

trying not to thread derail here, but Im neutral about US politics, because it’s always much more nuanced that people realise.
However if Trump got in, it would be brilliant if he roundly punished her for speaking out against him. Eg, no green card for Harry, no use of titles in the US.

The Sun is lazy and inaccurate (no surprise) Phil the Greek is so nicknamed not just because he was born on a kitchen table in Corfu but because his own title before marriage was Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark.

Archie was (still is?) Prince George's 'other name'
Senior Royals, usually those in direct line of succession have another name that they use instead of their 'official' name. God knows why. The Queen's father was called Bertie, but was crowned King George and her uncle was called David but known as Edward (before the abdication)
I've heard that PC wants to be known as King David. Like I said, no clue why!
George is referred to and called Archie. At least he was. There was a story that confirmed it but has been swuashed. Ages ago (before the arrival of his cousin) he was out with the Middletons walking in the countryside. Another party bumped into them and stopped to chat to Granny and Grandad M.
They sold the story to the press and said they definitely called George 'Archie' and the boy said 'hello, I'm Archie'
It could be a security thing, giving him a different name so it isn't obvious who he is, or might just be a nickname, but it is still an affectionate name that the family use.
