From this morning, with the 16h30 today update in CAPS. With my cynical hat on, someone has decided that they want this one to be Top 10 in UK, Canada and probably USA although that's going to take a big push.

Archewell Audio Spotify chart round up

- 17 in UK NOW 7
- 28 in Ireland NOW 28
- 23 in Canada NOW 9
- 53 in Australia NOW 33
- 68 in USA (!!!) NOW 26
- 39 in New Zealand and down one place from yesterday! NOW 39
- 72 in South Africa (but the stans have hauled it up 3 whole places from yesterday....) NOW 72

They don't seem to be able to challenge 'My Dad Wrote a Porno', or whatever da kidz are listening to these days.

🤮🤮 What absolute bilge, really. Even Mills & Boon have more class than that.

I believe the rise in the charts is just the recency effect. Fluff like this has no staying power. People will tune in, realise how basic it is and never listen again. I mean, is it just going to be the same thing every week...boring stories of community heroes that you can find through various other (free) sources? That's not original and does not make for compelling listening.

It's also not the kind of thing that's going to get word of mouth success, such as Dad Wrote a Porno. Imagine..."ooh Sandra did you hear Meghan and Harry's podcast this week? They were talking to Tunde from Botswana about how he's nurturing his community by growing a new type of turnip". "Wow Kerry, that sounds amazing, I must tune in next week!" 🥴

There wasn't much organic interest despite the massive PR expenditure, and the USA chart position went from the 30s down to the 60s in the first 24 hours after release. Then someone panicked and hit the 'special promotion :cool: big red button' and got the numbers up but only in selected markets LOLOL

If you look at the US Spotify charts, the average podcast goes up or down a few places. A 42 place jump for Archewell, after a slow drift south from the 30s to 68 in the first 24 hours? Yes that seems entirely natural and not at all artificially inflated.. ;)
 
Jan 8th, my friends. What was the final tally in terms of FF's "success" vs Lady C's book? Man I hope this trounces the response that FF got and at least matches Lady C's!!!

I guess the best ones to play/listen to would be the ones directly above and below the archewell cast in the charts. Of course it depends on what region you live in.

I take it that Samantha Markle is self publishing this? Which means that it won't get any marketing exposure and paid for PR. I don't blame her for going down this route but books that are self published rarely get the same attention in the media.

In fact the only exception I can think of was the '50 shades' book which was originally self published.

I wonder if Smeggy will take her to court over this as she won't have the protection of a publisher behind her. She is also likely to get death threats from the stans. I might download it but I don't think that Meghan will get the savaging she deserves.

If she can back it up with stuff like proving Smegma lived with her for a time then she could be onto something. She really hasn't got anything to lose and her early comments have certainly proved true in a lot of cases. I wish her well with her endeavours. Perhaps Spotify might be interested in her reading it - that would be fun!
