The Church wanted someone who was 'good' with money in order to get their financial mess in order. Good with money not so good with people seemingly. He wouldn't even MEET the abuse victims, even when asked repeatedly for 'an audience'. I mean, really? What's wrong with the bloke? All the lefties are saying he was 'a good man who did a bad thing'. I don't think so, I think he's a bad man who is a bleep.

In an interview he was asked about his previous career in finance and said that "In the commercial sector there is always accountability", maybe that's why the Church was a tempting career change for him, because there's hardly any accountability. He's not even going yet, he'll be faffing around for a while yet. Someone needs to just say: duck OFF. Just think of the banks when they fail, all the traders walk out of the front door (or sometimes the window) carrying a box ON THE SAME DAY. One thing is for sure ... Mr. Welby won't be worrying about his lack of winter fuel payment, he could probably use 50quid notes to burn on his fire. :cautious:

I have a retired vicar in the family (aka. lost faith and quit, also felt completely unsupported by the diocese leaders when he was struggling with workload and stress. Basically you are on your own and they have no time to see you if you are struggling). He says Welby is a egotistical arse.
Also my mum has read Rev Cole's murder novels, they are apparently disappointing. She likes Richard Osman's books though (and I don't mind them), so my vote is Ricard Osman to be the next Arch Bish. 😉

I don't like this time of year it feels weird like it's nearly xmas but it's not nearly xmas lol if that makes sense ,

I finally got round to getting my diabetic checkup done and while the majority of things are going in the right direction I have extremly high blood pressure and been put on blood pressure tablets also my kidneys are giving off warning signs apparntly these tablets will help protect my kidneys so feeling a bit meh over that

It’s something my daughter and her friends say, irritatingly. It always grates with me. She is pretty well educated but she was brought up in Coventry and it’s a local thing, apparently. There are quite a few strange ‘northernisms’ here, definitely not in the north.

I also have a retired vicar in the family. He is now Roman Catholic he got so disillusioned.

And personally I realised just what an utter twit Welby was with his appallingly compliant and wet response to Covid. Did he come out robustly with a plan to succour and support the sick, the scared and the isolated? Did he duck. He closed all the churches to such an extent that he even banned parish priests from entering their own churches, ON THEIR OWN.
