Annabel Eliot has been involved with interior design for decades. She studied Fine Art in Florence. She's run two successful related businesses for the last 30yrs +. She's been a go-to interiors person for the privileged classes for years.

If she were my sister, she'd be my go-to interiors person too! (have you seen her work? She'd make $millions in America.)

I have no connections with her though. But I wanted to redress the impression that Bookie gave - that she wasn't qualified, that she just got the royal job through nepotism. It really gets my goat when obviously qualified and accomplished women are undermined.

And note, POW's longtime mate is to be the outside chap, eco-farming and all that. No preferential treatment there then?! I daresay PC has her own preferred interior decor people.

Well said and all true. But I think part of the problem certainly from William's point of view is that AE covered for C and C when they were meeting behind Diana's back for years, using the houses that AE was "doing up" to meet in secret. The appointment was widely seen as a reward, according to reports at the time, and was not open to others to apply for in an open way, put out to tender or whatever it was called.
There can be no dispute about her talent.
William's intense and has a long memory, and wouldn't want his stepmother's sister discussing doing up places with him.
Despite reports to the contrary I don't believe he likes her at all.
Of course it will seem hypocritical he's appointed his friend, but like AE he seems well-qualified to do the job. It's not the nepotism aspect for William, it's who she is and he would not want to work with her. Fresh start. Maybe she's happy to go as well?

During a weekend off on HMQEII and PP's visit to Oz in 1954 someone filmed a heated argument between them.
HMQEII was caught throwing a pair of tennis shoes and racquet at PP.

Yes, thank you for fleshing out the background. Perhaps Bookie could have enlarged on that 'secret reward' aspect rather than the treatment she gave AE.

I'm not really a fan of any of the Shand-Eliots to be frank. I don't like any underhand stuff (some of which I'm pretty sure might be of interest to TRG).

Chuck seems to be fine with it all though - and that's all that matters apparently. Hence two disgruntled sons.

I'd like to know why he did nothing to keep his family, friends, staff and country (and us!) safe from his wife. She's not lobbed any literal grenades, but she and her minions terrorise our eyes and ears every day 🙄 Not that he's any less.

I think I read that AE has moved on to new projects at Balmoral and Sandringham. KC3 and QC clearly like her taste and are happy with her work. And she's not going to become a Paul Burrell/Grant Harrold-type and go on TV or be spouting nonsense in the papers every five minutes.

WvC is a probably a good choice for the Duchy. William is thinking long-term in appointing someone he knows and trusts, who is experienced and who knows George. George may well inherit the Duchy while still a minor or very young adult and it'll need to be overseen/managed until he feels ready to take it on. WvC is a safe pair of hands.

Unlie George's current Regent who definitely isn't.
