It was WAAAAAAAY more help than would be normal and I think signalled that somebody was very well connected or there were things about the group or the case that needed the full machinery of government to conceal.

Speaking of the embassy, at around the time that Scotland Yard got involved - didn't the British ambassador resign and leave the foreign office?

In my job I have to work with journalists - I can say without reservation that they are the laziest group of people I have ever had to deal with professionally. You can give them to link to the document that has the information they seek (I work for the government - our data is public) and they want the page...you give them the page number and they want you to pull out the table. Every week we get requests along the lines of "I need the data on XXX for YYY from 1840-2020. I need it in the next hour because my deadline is tonight" Excuse me? I am supposed to have my team drop whatever they are working on to cater to you?

I loved that novel, Princess Anne just on with life and as I recall kept a horse in her garden on the Council estate.

Poor Millie and her family. Her body was found in the woods where I live and every time I drive past there I always think of her. What happened to her was beyond horrific but what her family has to go through before they found her remains thinking she may have been alive was just horrendous. It breaks my heart just thinking about her
