I agree. Unless he was baking every day, no way did he only start baking in Lockdown!

Complained to offcom, sick of Paul Hollywood always being completely biased to the young and pretty. It’s gross. Last week they had to think about consistent baking and then this week?

I suspect it's the producers too on this occasion. Crystelle is photogenic, confident in front of the camera and attractive. C4 want their own Nadiya.

I think Chigs has become very cocky in the last few weeks. I'm not sure I believe the whole 'Didn't know how to bake at all, only started during lockdown'

Chigs' reaction to Giuseppe and Chrystelle also getting handshakes was very unfortunate. He came across as a diva for being bitter about not being the only one to get a handshake, when Juergipops was so gracious about being the only contestant not to get a handshake.

If Chigs has really only been baking for a year, I wonder whether he was perhaps furloughed during lockdown and turned all of his attention to baking.

Yes Prue has no say in the judges she just mimics what Paul says
Did anyones heart break when Joel was talking to Jurgen about being strong after not getting a handshake and Jurgen just looked upset and then walked off

I've been so bored of this season and the contestants especially Crystelle and Jurgen that I didnt bother watching last night- knew something would happen as I didnt watch last night!

I will give the final and the next series a start, but if its anything like this one I wont make it past episode 1. I cant pinpoint exactly what the issue is for me but the biggest is probably being boring contestants and boring bake styles

I think Chigs just calls a spade a spade which I enjoy, it counteracts everyone else bipping on about their Nan’s dead hyacinth plant.

He was my fave since day 1 but I have definitely noticed this a bit in the last couple of episodes

Actually that could be the case. If I was single, childless and furloughed for a year to concentrate on my baking, they would have to get an extra large Bakeoff tent to fit me in

I called it in the last thread that they would boot him before the end - they set him up to a ridiculous standard so the second he didn't reach it, it would be time to go. Meanwhile they commend Chigs/Chrystelle for coasting to the halfway point.

I only just watched it on All4 and already forgotten the theme. If Giuseppe doesn't win next week it's a sham.

They need to reboot this show, get rid of everyone except Prue. Noel and Matt are awful together, idgaf about Paul.

Sales manager sounds about right. Who else would bake for about 5 mimutes and then apply to bake off? Oh the confidence of men....

I’ve been watching old Bake Off episodes as they’ve been airing on Food Network, and it made me realise how weird the two tier judging system is now. It’s like Prue defers to Paul every time and only his opinion matters? It never used to be like that with Mary.

They need to change it up somehow, so it’s not all about who gets a handshake from Paul, or get some new judges in.

Totally agree! Her opinion should be just as valid as Paul’s and Juergen should have definitely had a handshake!! I think Paul was intimidated by juergens skills and the fact he is so loved! X

I wish they would tell him to stop the handshakes. They have taken on too much significance and are mainly about stroking Paul's ego now, as if a handshake from him is equal to Star Baker or something.

don’t know if I’m just bored with it now, or if the programme has been dumbed down, but most of them don’t seem to be wonderful, knowledgable skilled bakers to me. I used to enter competitions in the WI, and those judges really JUDGED. They were terrifying. Juergen was knowledgeable, he could give Paul a run for his money, which is probably why he is no longer there. As for the judges, both need to go, presenters too, though I have a soft spot Noel so I might give him another chance. And please, don’t get Paul to dress up, I’m embarrassed for him. His handshake ? Piss off.
