Once again I'm moved to think that the biggest punishment he'd ever have to endure is just having to exist in his own skin. Shame the rest of us have to put up with it too though.

Hi Giles, it’s not confined to the activist left. When someone incessantly talks about abusing kids and often rushes to accuse others of abusing kids - people tend to guess that person has those sorts of tendencies. Because it wouldn’t be on their mind so much otherwise. HTH

As far as I'm aware he's never even been a guest judge on Masterchef. Most of the other newspaper restaurant reviewers have been inc Jay Rayner, Grace Dent, William Sitwell.

Jay Rayner hates him - I remember this from a tweet which he published and then hastily deleted back in lockdown. But TBH I get the impression Giles doesn’t have many, if any, friends in the media.
I know he’s still clinging on to the Times job (how??), but he’s not got much else going on so the income must really be drying up. With that in mind, you’d think he’d be trying to improve his employment prospects rather than destroy them, with all that paedophile talk etc.

Agreed, Jones isn't everyone's cup of tea but I don't think it's fair to put him in the same metric as Coren. To give Jones credit he is one of the very few in the media that criticises others in the media when they deserve it. Most of them act like it's a closed shop, regardless of left or right.
