George Michael

I'm a bit confused. First he was murdered and now you're saying it was an accidental overdose? He was addicted to many drugs for many years and was not a well man. A sad loss - one of the greatest songwriters and performers of all time.

I haven’t Mentioned him being Murdered Not Me,
Accidental overdose possibly and Agreed he wasn’t a well man for a long while
He was Amazing 🥲

Hello, I lurk on these pages, and don't post often - but the mention of chemsex sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole, as I must admit that as a heterosexual woman, I was a bit ignorant. I thought it was just about having sex under the influence of poppers or GHB, but it sounds like there's a more sinister element to it. Methampthetamine and GHB are often injected simultaneously by people who practice chemsiex, which doesn't sound like it would be too healthy for anyone:

The articles I read say that men who indulge in chemsex often have much rougher sex than they would do otherwise, which can lead to internal/rectal injuries, and the drugs can also cause other health problems, specifically heart issues. If George was regularly being supplied these drugs by Fadi AND regularly participating in very rough sex, I can't imagine either his physical OR mental health were that great. He always seemed to have a very high sex drive (Kenny said as much I think, and the cottaging on Hampstead Heath seemed to be part of that), so potentially his drug use may have been very heavy indeed.

It all seems to contribute to a potentially very sad end for George. Of course, he might have been loving the scene, and feeling that he was living his best life, but I don't think the evidence really supports that.

I think George topped himself as that’s why it was all so hush hush with his family and the funeral. Unfortunately I think he was in a very dark place during his last days!

I've always felt the same - whether it was fully intended or not, and George knowing how unwell he was, my feeling that Xmas Day was he wanted "out". We won't ever fully know, but something never felt right about it - poetic it was Xmas Day too, with Last Christmas.

My Christmas Days since have always felt a little sad, but then I put his music on while cooking our meal and I love him so. I'm sad that he didn't see old age and continue to make his wonderful music, but most of all to be happy himself. His fans only ever wanted that.

Like you also, I know nothing of this drug - reading the link to that Sun article was an eye opener too. If the people he knew well could get him the drugs, as much as I hate drugs, I guess at least they were from those he trusted. But what a toll they must have taken on his body and mind. The come down after must have been 😱.

I never took to Fadi - I thought he was a slease and a user. Kenny - George always appeared to speak of him in a loving way. Maybe things would have been different if they had stayed together.

Whatever happened in his personal life, was just that - it was "his". The pressure of being Mr George Michael must have been immense at times - the drugs, sex and whatever else, was his time to be himself and switch off.

He was loved by so many, but maybe that love was never enough.

Just thinking about how beautiful this song is. It’s so dreamy and in a way, it’s a banger too. Apparently it was originally going to be more upbeat, but he took away the snare and said

but I love how his music could be romantic AND sexy at the same time, Edge Of Heaven’s another one that’s just brilliantly that way.

Edge of Heaven is the one song that reminds me of Wham the Final. They (George and Andrew) made a big deal about audience participation and that's always stuck with me.

It was one of the best days of my life. 16 year old me loved them both even more ❤
Omg that must have been such an emotional show, I’m so happy for you that you were there!

~~~
I‘ve gone down a George rabbit hole today and found out that he was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire with Ronan Keating! I never knew this! And their reason for appearing together is really touching, they both sadly lost their mothers around the same time, so were raising money for charity.
He was a truly wonderful man. I was reading somewhere an interview where George said Princess Diana had a huge crush on him. They were good friends for many years. Imagine the kinds of things they chatted about 😢
The one and only time I actually met George, he was escorting Princess Di at an Aids Benefit gig at Wembley Stadium. They were sat directly opposite us until the interval and we dashed round to see them come out as George was leaving early to go to the Royal Albert Hall to sing with Elton John.
He was in his French crop era and was taller in the flesh than I thought he was. Absolutely beautiful. Not sure about Diana, ignored her 😂
Can I just say… I’m a big fan of music, and I’ve been in and interacted with a lot of music fandoms, and honestly, the George Michael fandom is easily the nicest one I’ve ever known.
I‘m sure like any other fandom there’s some people who aren’t so nice and some dramas, but overall, GM fans are so sweet, kind, positive, and just truly love the music. It’s just so full of love.
We're going back to the beginning tonight. One of my absolute faves ❤
Awww @Sammiejayne444 That one gives me goosebumps even after all these years and “Where Did Your Heart Go”
George has literally been the soundtrack to my life since I was 11, and still is. There’s a Song that will reach deep into your soul no matter what your going through Good Times or Bad Yog has always been there 💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏
100% agree. There are songs I play when I need to cry and songs I play when I'm happy and want to dance.
Love this version of I'm your man, my daughter's fave Wham/GM tune but more so for me as we were there the night this tour was recorded for the DVD and were down in the 3rd row from the front. Cried when he came out then sung and danced the rest of night 😁
