Years ago I used to side eye it when people moved to Monaco because of the implications they don’t want to deal with taxes like the rest of us working fools.
Until I actually went there and saw that despite the gilded lifestyle some have called a golden prison living there gives many a privacy and normalcy that their own homes no longer do. Which is sad. Of course now that everyone has a camera phone they’ve lost some of the privacy they once had.
But those little slivers of normalcy of being able to have coffee at a sidewalk cafe or even shopping for groceries can keep one a little more sane.
Just offering a different perspective.
oh I totally get it. Would I do the same in their situation. Probably/Absolutely! I couldn’t even imagine not being able to get a sit down morning coffee.
But Lando openly admitting to the BBC it was because of financial reasons will definitely rub a few folk up the wrong way. Honest though!
I was watching a few old episodes of the grand tour ( the new top gear) and they still make quibs on there about Hamilton’s tax.
