As a black person I’m so happy I stayed home tonight. Thinking about the abuse those three players are getting breaks my heart. I have to blame the manager for this one. I’ve never seen Sancho take a penalty and this is Saka’s first senior penalty.
Should’ve been some of the more experienced players considering the high stakes of this match. But that’s life I guess. We move. The boys did so well to even get this far, couldn’t be prouder

I am surprised one of the more senior players didnt step up so not to put Saka in that position.
I think if Henderson hadnt been subbed ( which prob was coz of his pen miss other week) he seems the kind of guy to say no i'll take it instead

He was awful when he was subbed on. With all his experience I thought he’d have brought a calmness to the midfield but minus erratic passes and balls going out of play he didn’t offer anything.

Don’t give a flying tit that the waistcoat wanker has gotten us to a world cup semi final and a euros finals he hasn’t won them and then he choose the worst penalty line up. God bless Saka i adore him he’ll do amazing at Arsenal but who in their right mind chooses a 19 year old who has never took a senior penalty before take the 5th deciding penalty. Like fair enough let him take the first or second penalty but why the deciding one when you know if he misses he’ll get racist abuse. Gareth needs sacking asap don’t really give a tit what’s he’s done for england he’s dog shite. Also don’t know why Henderson, Sterling or Grealish did stepped forward and say they’d take the last penalty 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Also why only sub Jack on sooo late, like what Gareth on something tonight? how tapped in the head is he??? If he’s the manager for the world cup next year i don’t want to hear any talk about it coming home because nothing will come home as long as he’s managing England

Worst take I’ve seen yet. Yes he may have got it wrong tonight but Southgate has been absolutely spot on this entire tournament. How can Henderson take a penalty if he had been subbed off? Make it make sense 🤯

yeah not his night at all, I just feel if given chance he wouldve had the balls to take a pen even after his last

He shouldn’t of subbed henderson off knowing it could of gone to penalties with his senior experience 🤷🏼‍♀️

Henderson missed his last two penalties he has taken for English, Southgate would have been mental to let him take one. I can guarantee Henderson would have been up for it, not his fault he was subbed off and not picked to take one. Pains me so say it as I’m a a Liverpool fan but he didn’t play great tonight, been unreal in every other game he’s played in though.

yeah I much preferred when we didnt get past qtrs or that really fun year we didnt even qualify
we'll prob never know who was willing to take a pen as Gareth's not the type to throw them under the bus

I don't understand Southgate's decision. Marcus and Jadon had barely touched the ball before taking the pens, Saka has never taken a pen in his entire professional career. If you want more inexperienced players taking pens, you should have them take the earliest ones and leave the decisive ones to the experienced guys. Makes no sense for Kane to take the first pen and for Saka to take the last.

Devastated after last night. I've not agreed with Southgates tactics all tournament but I've appreciated how far he got us. Last night however was shocking, Mount should have been off for Grealish at 45 mins. Putting Grealish on when he did gave him no opportunity to really change the game.

No idea what he was thinking putting Rashford and Sancho on with minutes to spare, ready to take penalties. The guys hadn't even properly kicked the ball and had been sat on their arses for the last 120 minutes. To have to step up then and take deciding penalties is awful, the pressure and anxiety on that must be horrendous. I would have stuck DCL on tbh and had him in the penalty taker line up.

Gareth made the choices who took the penalties and when. He admitted this in the interview and you could see when they were in the huddle that he was listing the players and saying who would take when. I believe Jack was in line but likely after the first 5. No idea why Gareth made those first 5 choices though. I really really feel for the guys who missed, especially Saka being only 19 years old. Southgate made a massive error leaving rhe decider to him.

At least Saka and Sancho had theirs saved though, Rashford should have done better imo.

Selection was awful and tactics were awful. I am wondering how long it will be before Southgate goes you know, I genuinely think we could have won if he got his tactics right.

The FA have put too much focus on the 2022 target and there are no English managers with the level of experience of Mancini or Luis Enrique waiting in the wings. I am not sure they really up for the big 2022 target to have an inexperienced manager and we all know the press and public only support English men for the job.

I susoect it’s inevitable that at least one of Lampard, Gerrard or Rooney will end up manager at some point this decade pledging to be better than when they played.

Do you honestly think Jack Grealish would have changed the outcome of the game if he’d been on from the start? Has he started any of the games - genuine question, I haven’t seen all of England’s games.

As a Scot who struggles to cheer on England due to the ridiculous hype and pressure the media put on, I genuinely think Gareth Southgate has made England into a great team, who are playing attractive football. I wondered how long it would be before folk started calling for his sacking. Who’s replacing him? And I think “tapped in the head” is unnecessary tbh.

I don’t know why he picked the order he did but he did. Maybe because he’d gone with Rashford, a mature and experienced player who made a mistake rather than had his pen saved. England struggled to break ahead during the game but they had chances and if they’d taken them, it wouldn’t have got to penalties in the first place.

It’s heartbreaking to hear of disgusting racist abuse the players are getting, absolutely awful.

I genuinely think Grealish could have changed the game if on earlier. He needed to be on at 45 mins. When he came on 10 mins into extra time, chances were created. Had he been given more time, I think we could of won.

Tbh I don’t know a huge amount about him (other than he meets random dog walkers on the street and meets them for sex 😉) but Sam Allardyce agrees, he’s just been on TV saying that he was disappointed not to have seen more of him throughout the whole tournament
