I've said it before but the pair of them seem fundamentally unable (or unwilling) to see beyond their own tiny world, and they don't relate to or even really acknowledge anything that's different to their own experience.
The tooth mouse post was a good example. If he'd never heard of the mouse, a quick google would have shown him that the mouse is probably at least as popular a tradition around the world as the fairy, maybe more so (also some articles suggest the tooth fairy was derived from a mouse). There's an age-appropriate educational opportunity about countries of the world right there, instead of saying things like "... the one childhood story you don't f**k with is the tooth fairy", "a teacher at school screwed us" and "why do I now have to explain why the teacher is wrong".
