Currently I'm having a tax discussion on the Lydia thread.

Basically her tax bill has come in and it will be high, as technically they have to tell the HMRC all of their earnings and this include any freebies they would be gifted in lieu of payment or freebies they recieve that they advertise for a brand (in Josies case a bloody lot of stuff)

She would now need to do her expenses so her travel, equipment, bills such as phone bill and electricity etc (I could go on for a long time) and then this will be deducted from what she owes making her tax bill less.
Yep "business" expenses as tax write-offs 🙄.

I vote for number 5.
How painful was the latest vlog? Now I have images of her making out with the dog. Poor Charlie nevers get the same kind of loving. I love how she casually mentions the large tax bill. How much of her house content will be written off? I suppose, being a blogger, virtually everything!

I've been having this discussion on the lydia thread about this and actually she can not write anything off that isn't for the sole purpose of her business.

She can claim her camera equipment, lights etc
Office furniture
certain bills can be partially claimed for
I think she can claim hair and makeup for filming/shooting purposes but its a grey area

but she can not claim any other furniture in her house not even her dressing room (it isn't use for the sole purpose of her work)
she can't claim for any clothes, shoes, handbags or jewellery
and she has to declare all of her gifted items including trips and holidays where she has taken them in lieu of payment as well as the freebies she receives alongside payment.

the list goes on and on

A seasoned con artist like her will find a way around it, mark my words 🙄.

Then it sound like it's going to be painful. I would be deeply worried if my accountant called me up to warn me.

Like many other Tatlers here I am also beginning to warm to Charlie. Josie may hold the purse strings but I get the impression he comes from quite a decent family. The impression i have formed of Josie is that she is a 'social climber' and also that she is incredibly mean. She accepts constant gifts and handouts yet never gives anything away. She even mentioned on vlog a couple nights ago that they would put the garden slabs on Ebay. Charlie quickly added ' or just give them away' I felt he was genuine and embarrassed at her greed. She picked up an unwanted antique armchair for free yet spoke of putting a basic piece of furniture on EBay. How about giving back for a change Josie ? I'd rather have Charlie's ethics than Josies greed and lack of true class

Thats what you get when you beg and beg for free stuff.
I find it hysterical that all these influencers show off all the free stuff they get sent but then they get lumbered with a tax bill for it that requires real money to pay for it. Can't pay the tax man with frilly white dresses and parasols. Remember nothing in this world is truly free!

I also like some of the things Josie likes, but I actually know how to make things look good (imo).
Me too.

It's just the way that Josie likes to tart a room up with gold spray paint, tassels, different shades of pink, feathers, clashing (floral) patterns and colours, faux mouldings and so on that makes the room look like a lux brothel when she's finished with it 🥴.

The people commenting on josies videos are just as infuriating may be even more infuriating than the vlogs themselves. They too are a bunch of know it alls, yet know nothing. They just stroke her ego and encourage all of her bad habits and behaviours, especially towards the dogs. Telling Josie how she is perfect and how loved she is blah blah blah.
Infuriating is the nicest word I can find for her commenters. The absolute cow that these Karens are having about the bed on the opposite wall is telling. I imagine these women to be the meddling ninnies that exhaust everyone in the service and retail industry. The self-importance oozes out of the comment section in thinly veiled praise- I like what you did, BUT. They know what is best about everything.

I won't post often but I have a genuine question? Do adults in the UK say epic? This a real question.

I am in the US. Epic is something middle school and high school kids would say, maybe 14-16 year olds who are trying really hard to fit in, and that was a few years back. No adult says epic in any way other than something like "I think I'll read Homer's epic, The Iliad'. I am serious.

That's it. Oh, and the bed over the fireplace has really thrown me. I would not want to sleep in that bed like that. Spiders, also bats. I know someone who had a bat get in through a fireplace and this was while a fire was going.
