The hotel/airbnb shenigans has made the newspapers
Airbnb hosts and hotels are cancelling pre-existing bookings in Liverpool for the weekend of the Eurovision contest on May 13. Some of the hotels have been put back online at a higher price.

not reflecting well on Liverpool at the moment, the city's tourism/promotion department needs to stand up and fight back and sort it out.
I knew Eurovision was popular, but not thousands of pounds a night popular? Never had this trouble in any of the European cities I've been to the contest in, although when it was in Dusseldorf we did stay in Cologne. Maybe they should have stuck to the capital, since it's got more than enough accomodation to cope.
