Emily In Paris - Netflix

Have watched 4 episodes so far. I’m a bit meh on it, it seems to be much the same storylines as previous seasons going around in circles. Emily seems to have gotten very thin and her eyebrows very bushy, and unfortunately looks like a unibrow with the fringe. I think Luc and Sylvie are quite stylish, the rest not. Why does Camille’s hair look greasy? How can they all walk around Paris in those heels on cobblestones? I really don’t care about the English fella. I do like how the French characters speak French to each other, maybe sounds like a silly thing to note but it makes the show feel less Americanised.

Lily Collins has a history of eating disorders, she’s been pretty frank about it and to date is still in therapy (to my knowledge).

Part of me thinks, it shouldn’t be OK to normalise this malnourished type of body on TV shows and glamorise it. I know it isn’t Lily’s fault and she seems like a decent person (I actually like her as an actress) and of course theres no feasible way to filter out ED’s in this way without adding more shame to it.

but seeing just how tiny she is, combined with the focus on how much Emily runs? It makes me so uncomfortable. At least the show, shows Emily eating normally and enjoying food, which I guess for such a backward show is as progressive as it gets. The only reference to dieting has been the leek juice Sylvie spoke about and Emily didn’t have a clue.

but you’re not wrong, Lily Collins is very skinny and it’s the result of years of very bad eating disorders and poor mental health.

Emily in Paris has been such a guilty pleasure for me since binging season 1! I don’t know what it is about this show, I don’t normally watch anything like it.

Season 3 was a slow start but it hooked me again. I am really disappointed with how they’ve treated Camille’s character, though. In season 1 she is so friendly and welcoming to Emily. Her outfits were generally chic and well put together, if a little unrealistic. It seems like they’ve been deliberately putting her in unflattering clothes and awful hairstyles to make her less of a rival to Emily. Because let’s be real, what man would choose the hot mess that is Emily over season 1 Camille, who is beautiful, educated, kind and elegant. Now they’ve just made her a generic scheming mean girl.

I would rather see Emily, Camille and Mindy become a trio of best friends, while taking on Paris and having flings with hot people, but not catching feelings. Either that, or just give us Sylvie in Paris. She’s the real star. And her love interests are the hottest 😅

Yesss I feel sorry for character Camille, she didn’t deserve the crappy personality transplant they’ve given her. Given how she was in the first series, it isn’t realistic the way she’s acting now.

I third that! How boring (and a tad sexist?) that the writers reduced their friendship down to a competition over a rather bland man, and that they converted Camille into a generic scheming, petty, mean girl. It’s just not consistent with how she was in the first season. She was warm and sweet, not petty and dishonest and manipulative.

And to have an epiphany whilst… in a chapel about to get married in a shotgun wedding?

Like surely she’d have thought it all through, or at a minimum, asked Gabriel to one side for a quiet word instead of announcing in front of everyone that he and Emily were in love and that’s why she couldn’t marry him?!

Only seen a few episodes but it's quite a feat how a show that's had so few episodes is so stale and past it's sell by date.

Series 1 wasn't a total write off and there were some promising bits they could have taken forward. But it's got worse with each season. I'd think most 16 year olds would think it's a bit lame and cheesy. Emily's bare bones basic ideas treated as amazing 😆

The budget obviously is pretty big, but they've squandered the chance to make something decent.

I absolutely loved season 1, season 2 was okay but I'm really struggling with this season 😩 I've currently got it on in the background and I've just lost all interest in it. It's gotten so boring. The only thing I like about it now is seeing the beauty of Paris and their mad outfits 😂
I’m the same. Only managed two episodes so far and I think I’m done. So dull! And even the goddess that is Kate Walsh, who I adore from Greys and the Umbrella Academy, can’t save the shitshow that is season 3 for me!

I love the actress, not the character! To be honest I don’t think there are any characters in this, other than the guys Emily works with, who aren’t annoying 🤣
What about Sylvie? I ❤️ her!

This seems to be the general concensus on the Netflix Facebook pages about the show. I agree too.

It really did feel like s3 was getting into ridiculous soap opera territory

Why wasn’t Mindy trying to get her own apartment/place/room share? She was having a ton of sex in their *SHARED* bed and I didn’t notice no washing machine or trips to the launderette. I’m just hoping the same bedspread can be explained because Emily has several of the same…

Emily has previously mentioned about how she has pretty humble beginnings and she’s fairly junior in marketing - how does she afford all this Chanel and Prada and Ganni and kenzo? Why doesn’t she rewear a single thing? Who the heck goes for runs in a *white* Chanel tee shirt?

She loses her job but isn’t freaking out about loosing her apartment… that her job provided for her. Or how to afford to live in an expensive capital?! she’s not worried about money when she’s on a base rate wage and has an expensive Chanel habit?

and no one can tell me that taking Gabriel to a Michelin restaurant and charging it to the company isn’t some type of embezzlement or tax fraud or something.

none of it makes sense - it’s a great premise and hey, was even a bit satirical to begin with, but it’s gotten so ridiculous it isn’t even fantasy escape anymore.

I mean, if I was Emily tottering abut Paris in my ridiculous neon heels creating mindless drama with clients, I’d want to rock up to my studio apartment and crawl into bed without Benoit and Mindy’s damp spot. There’s no way 4 adults could be havig sex on the reg in the same bed and not have some sort of friendship-ending disaster.

(I have been to that bakery she gets her croissant from in S1 and can confirm it is delicious though)
