Why she hasn't really travelled in Europe is so strange.

I bet if I had Elle's time and money, I could live so much better than her. I'd be taking some art history classes in Florence (Kate Middleton did her gap year there and tuition is a few hundred pounds), renting an apartment in Paris and going to the best restaurants there, polishing up my French and try passing the bar in French in Canada on the way. This is for a woman who brags about her French heritage.

Instead, Elle collects old Chanel bags. You only need 1 or 2 Chanel bags at the most - the medium flap and the crossbody which Elle has. Yet she bought some more old Chanel bags that don't even look that great and you'd never have another look at if it didn't have the double Cs.

She also lives in haunted and cluttered surroundings. She has no hobbies other than shopping. What about planting some plants and flowers to brighten up your house, taking some cooking courses, or exercising to get a toned body? Seriously... I don't know what Elle does with her time and she has no kids or a job.

Elle equates being a pale European with being classy, and that connection definitely has elitist and racist underpinnings.

I actually like the curly hair on her. It looks a bit mad but it gives her a relaxed vibe that she lacks. Unfortunately she ruins it with the outfit. She dresses like a 45 year old divorcee on holiday.

I think it's a combination of lack of interest (she would rather purchase more ugly clothes and handbags) and a cost issue. Elle does spend a lot on her hauls but that money is pennies compared to traveling, especially in western or northern Europe (presumably the only European places she'd go to). It's at least a few hundred dollars per night for the hotel if she's in any large city and that's only for the decent but not luxurious hotel rooms. Her Hawaii stays are cheap because of Ginette's timeshare and the fact they cook quite a bit. A week in Paris or London would be at least two ugly secondhand handbags and there's no way Elle would do that.

Elle says she's "basically a paler clone of my mom" . They look the same color to me.
Remember her insisting "You look more Italian than me, your natural hair color is darker. I'm French" in that Hawaii video she did with G on the beach.

If she was more Scandinavian looking, I bet we'll never hear the end of how pale, blue-eyed, and naturally blonde she is. She is 100% colorist and racist, even if she hasn't explicitly stated it. She went out with a friend of a friend a while ago and tried to pass him off as spicy white when he wasn't, and didn't even look it at all. She was embarrassed that he was darker and not of European descent.

Elle wouldn't know what to do with herself anywhere that isn't a beach or a shopping centre. I don't think she'd find walking around art galleries, visiting parks, or enjoying local cultural activities very interesting. Europe, or anywhere else in the world, doesn't appeal to her because she would actually have to put in work to research what to do. Plus no one in Vietnam or France or Argentina would care about her designer clothing and accessories. She bought all that for attention and adoration, might as well put it to use in fancy restaurants in Hawaii!

I live in Vancouver, and even Elle's lack of travel around the city and region was sad. She's so dull and narrow-minded, she wouldn't even leave her own neighbourhood. Anyone watching her vlogs would think Vancouver is just grocery stores and Nordstrom. It's actually one of the top places in the world for livability and features amazing outdoor amenities!

I don't have the time but if I did I'd also learn to ski. Vancouver has the best skiing in the world and Elle insists she's European and high class so I don't know why she doesn't try polishing up her skiing. Maybe she'll meet someone on the slopes or something. And skiing if you're a BC resident is not expensive - there are discounts and seasonal passes for them.

Vancouver Island is also very beautiful and you never see Elle taking even road trips on there without Ginette. You never see Elle take road trips to Alberta or anything - Calgary has Banff and the Stampede. She lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world yet her life revolves around Nordstrom, shopping 2nd hand bags and living in an old outdated Hawaii condo.

We keep talking about how strange it is that she doesn't travel, and we know she reads here, so... I think it's also a lack of independence. She is not keen on traveling alone, because she's probably not the confident #girlboss she makes herself out to be. She doesn't have real friends who would want to travel with her, so the few times she's traveled, it's been with a man or her mom.

Traveling would actually expose her to a whole array of men she can sink her paws into. 😉 Too bad Pandy is still around, so maybe in 2022, Duchess.

It’s ok for one’s life to revolve around Nordstrom and brunch. Not everyone has to love outdoor activities and stimulating museums. I happen to love them (outdoor and museums) and haven’t set foot in a physical store since last February (just got vaxxed yesterday, so first stop this weekend, TRADER JOOOOOOOE’S!!), but I don’t think it’s fair to look down on someone else who wishes to spend her (mom’s) money on what they love if it’s not hurting anyone else. Of course her constant material accumulation wreaks havoc on the environment and sweat/child labor, which is abhorrent. But that’s not what we’re talking about. This is for all the people out there who may happen to prefer shopping and brunching over skiing and hiking. You’re not inferior for having different interests. Just try to be conscious of your consumption and its impact on the world, that’s all. As we all should.

I agree! The comments about how “if I had this money, I would use it in better ways than Elle and do XYZ instead” comes off as jealous and judgmental.

It reminds me of people who insult influencers for having designer handbags and claim how it’s a waste of money, while talking down on the items and claiming they aren’t worth it. People can do whatever they want with their money and time. If you hate designer items so much, then don’t follow people who buy them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m all for snarking on Elle since that’s what the gossip thread is for but it’s weird how aggressive people can be about designer goods or shopping in general. They might not be interesting hobbies to some but that’s exactly what a lot of women and influencers like and that doesn’t make them worse people. Elle’s problem is that everything she buys is ugly and looks the same. She has no style. :m

I mean to be fair I don't think the "I would do x" comments aren't all meant in a bad light. Just more of a "if I had the means Elle seems to I would do this differently" . I don't think that's any different than anything else we comment on here. "I wouldn't wear those shoes with that skirt" . I am privileged but definitely never had the opportunities Elle has had and it is kind of nice to be like "what would I do if I was her" .

But I understand not wanting to travel. I don't travel well, and I'm happy just going to the same couple of vacation spots that aren't too far away with my family most of the time because I know what to expect and it cuts down on my anxiety and I'm able to spend quality time with my family.

But I can also see how if I was raised how Elle was how using that euro passport to travel would be appealing too especially as her mom follows her every where. If I moved far away I'd be leaving my brother and grandma and parents and my aunt who I am close with. But if her mom goes everywhere with her that takes a lot of my personal fear at least of moving away from everything.

Nothing wrong with liking what you like but I don't think it is wrong for us to put ourselves in her shoes and see how things could've been. She clearly only cares about getting married and who the guy isn't doesn't seem to matter. To me that is a little sad and kind of a shallow life. So I think that colors our view of her other choices. I don't really need to travel the world to be happy and a lot of people don't have the opportunity. So I can see why lots of us who don't seem to have the means she does would want to use that, plenty of people don't travel bc they can't afford to.

But the thing is we know it's not her money it's her moms and I don't think that is really OK, even if Ginette allows it.

I enjoy this thread because it stays respectful and productive. I'm happy that it is not like most Tattle threads that devolve into blatant sexist or just plain cruel comments.

That said, gossip is always subjective. I don't care for designer goods and have commented on Elle's (in my opinion) wasteful ways, but my comments are always aimed at Elle and not at the general reader who enjoys designer. If one puts themselves on the internet as a self-appointed girlboss, I think it's fair to discuss the finances of buying designer goods. I wouldn't gossip about designer goods on someone whose channel is literally just them buying designer goods.

Likewise, I'm not particularly interested in discussions of Elle's dating habits. If she wants to date ten men at once, have at it! But I also think it's fine if others gossip about the issue. If someone thinks Elle's dating habits are inappropriate, that's on them. It has no bearing on me and my dating habits.

And if Elle does indeed read here, I hope she can see that 99% of comments are not mean or spiteful or angry. Most of us were fans at some point and we don't wish anything bad on her. We just can turn away from what Elle's life has become, and the hypocrisy that has become so evident.

I love your plan of what to do. I would live to sign up for the same if I also didn't have to work and had money.

I may be a bit different from most here as I’ve never been a fan of Elle and only watched her channel as a hate watcher — although I don’t hate her. Her pretentious manner and lack of self awareness were a train wreck that was hard to look away from and mildly entertaining. I began watching her around 2014 and never found her inspirational, that being said, I have nothing against anyone who did at one time. There’s no right or wrong opinion — just different. I respect y’all’s unfiltered opinions and appreciate the bond we have in exposing Eleanor’s lies and lack of integrity — and love the fact that Elle reads here and can’t delete or scold comments! 😂

Oh my gosh youtube suggested this video for me from 7 years ago and I had to watch it. She is so different ---not just in looks but showing off her coach purse and banana republic dress (rather than the extra pricey items she shows off now). I didn't watch her then but the funny thing to me is that while she seems more relatable, I feel like the maturity level seems appropriate at this point in her life, but it seems that she is still stuck there now. Her video quality really hasn't improved much either and you would think she'd invest more if she is really trying to make this a job.
