I used to like Alfie back in the day when it was him and Spencer and the nan. Watching him with Tommy last night talking about how he hadn't seen him in years like he was some old school friend he'd just bumped into reminded me what a tit dad he was so I'm not pushed about him coming back. I can't really imagine him with Kat anymore even though they were one of the great soap couples.

I wish they would just get rid of sam now, she's brutal.

This is the same story as when the latest Ben came back, he wanted to finish his dad because he always felt like Phil overlooked him, it was boring then and this is even worse because Sam's been away for over 10 years.

Ben has always wallowed in self pity. It's never ending with him. He had reasons to be upset when he was younger when his sexuality wasn't embraced but Phil eventually got over that and supported him.

Sam on the other hand has been living an independent life in Spain or Portugal for years and is far less affected by Phil’s behaviour than Ben as he wasn't her alcoholic abusive parent.
She was always looked after by her brothers.

Why Sam should be trying to outmanoeuve Phil now for no apparent reason makes no sense at all.

Congratulations Eastenders. I have hated the entire run of the latest Peter Beale actor, but on leaving you've actually made me feel sorry for the character.

His family is a total mess. He can't even trust his gran. He doesn't have one family member he can trust. He can suck one of Dana's tits and ruin her and that's it :D

Bored stiff of Ben not telling people what happened to him.

Why has the character of Peter been sacrificed for woman trafficking Ben? I bleeping hate him- he has not one likeable feature and I wish he’d died instead of Denny.

I thought the same! I was on Peter’s side and was glad he was finally calling them all out on the facades they all put on. Whereas whiny Ben thinks he’s the only gay man, rape victim with an alcoholic dad to ever exist so that gives him the right to beat people to near death and drown them :cautious: I really can’t stand Ben but I know EE will never kill him off for ‘legacy’ but what is that legacy? A dull, self pitying, human trafficking, whiny twit. I’d rather Peter have stayed- he’s actually proactive and decent enough person. It always makes me laugh how Ben always has to have a weapon instead of fighting with his fists like Phil. I really wish they would scrap the character of Ben, there’s nowhere left for him to go. He must have been in this snotty state for at least a month now.

he absolutely should have done. i’m still angry that they focused so much on ben in the aftermath of that and not enough on sharon.

this version of ben’s only decent storyline has been the initial stages of his relationship with callum imo. i hate them now but the first coming out and early relationship scenes were all excellent - the actors have great chemistry, shame it’s been wrecked now! as others have said, there is nowhere for ben to go and they keep him in the same loop, doing the same scenes, all the time.

felt quite sorry for peter in the end, and for the actor. what did he even get to do during this stint on ee? nothing of any value.
 
I hate what they have done to Ben. I will give them a pass in the hope that they are going to have some long term plan in place for his recovery when the rape is finally revealed, have a really good social issues storyline that helps other men who have been assaulted. I'd rather see that played out long term in real time that have Ben bounce back quickly which isn't realistic and could actually be more harmful. I suppose time will tell but I no longer trust the story editors to do any issue justice which is a shame when you consider how much of a trailblazer EE was back in its heyday.
 
I still think the biggest mistake EastEnders made was killing off Paul. Him and Ben were great together. And you could see Paul pushing Ben to move past the idea that he just had to follow the family gene and he could be the Ben who danced to Lady Gaga.

As soon as they followed the kill your gays trope, it ended any chance of Ben being a character who could have some happiness for me.
