It has to be most depressing soap on the planet 😂 but i can't stop watching it. It's a habit at this stage for me. One horrible storyline is over and then the next sad one appears. It's never ending gloom. At least there's funny bits in Corrie with Mary and now Eileen's fella. The only one that's kinda funny in EastEnders is Kim. The kimfluencer 😂😂😂

And EastEnsers used to be able to manage funny moments.

June Brown was brilliant at them, when Jim was courting her, when she tried to used a computer, eating a curry.

I will never forget the joyful episode of Pat and Peggy getting drunk in the hospital car park in the back of an ice cream van while Hev was having her baby.

So Only me who finds the actress who plays Janine an extremely irritating actress. The whole eyebrow raising, frowning, , head flicking, tongue flashing overacting is excruciating.
Has the actor who plays Phil really injured himself? I know he’s in prison but we just see a few minutes of him sitting down.

I assumed he was off to jail as a way for the actor to be off for panto for a few weeks. But no, he’s still stuck inside. Unless he’s still playing Buttons in a theatre in Dorset for an extended season.

Didn’t Ben inadvertently cause the death of Jags in prison too? I hate the character.

he also hired a hitman to kill billy, was involved in human trafficking, was about to pull phil’s feeding tube out when he was in a coma, manipulated jay to break up with ruby (not as serious as the rest i know 🤣), dangled martin off the railway bridge and was happy to arrange for keanu to get killed.

that’s just what i remember!! ee twitter talk about him like he’s a sweet misunderstood boy but he’s a legitimately awful person. the show never actually has him face up to any of it either.

callum could do leagues better.

Ben is far worse than Phil has ever been (although a lot of people fail to see this).
Phil has done some awful things but he's a better person than Ben in so much as he cares about 'family'.

Ben has always been completely selfish. Ok having a dad who didn't like him being gay at first and was an alcoholic is challenging, along with a mum who pretended to be dead for years but are we supposed to excuse him forever on these grounds.

exactly! the show keeps him in such a loop too, it always comes back to him feeling inadequate to phil when phil (in fairness) has tried to move past that. i don’t know why we have to keep excusing his behaviour, and his treatment of callum sometimes, because of it.

phil at least has some degree of moral code and knows when to step away from situations.

I totally agree although a lot of people say it's all Phil’s fault for not being the world's best dad 🙄

Ben is a despicable person and even though I find Callum drippy he could certainly do better than Ben.

Ben has another storyline coming up that was in spoilers a few pages back. The problem is that how are the audience going to feel sorry for him now? I know that I'm probably going to find it a stretch.

yep, there’s so many reasons why i’m not into his upcoming storyline and i have no clue why they felt the need to include this weird vigilante plot before it.

the writers needs to decide what to do with ben after the upcoming story, if it’s just another loop of angst back into other traumatic event like they always do then it achieves nothing. i’d like to see him actually start moving forward.
