they definitely are. i know the other big soaps have had recasts with child characters but they mainly seem to stick to the same actor from late teens onwards (aside from some exceptions, like todd on corrie atm). ee seems to have gone through a crazy amount - we’re on like our third martin, our fourth ben, have looped back around to third peter, there were two michelles, two sams…. it’s mad 🤣

I don’t actually mind the current iterations of the characters butthey’re bordering on American soap opera level of recasts now.

With the Sams it’s back and forth between Sam 1.0 & Sam 2.0

i think for me it’s more that they start not feeling like the same character (if that makes sense!) like said above, all the bens have been different and ben number four is so different from ben number two that it’s weird when he remembers killing heather (as an example) because it doesn’t even seem like the same person. likewise this peter and most recent peter are like two different people.

i do think martin is one of the best recasts the show has ever done though. both actors looks similar enough that you can believe it and james bye must have watched a lot of previous episodes because he almost copies the same mannerisms. the rest? not so much 🤣
 
Is anyone else getting The Parent Trap vibes with Ravi and the new family? Just in that they each had a child, went through a bitter split and Ravi didn’t know about the daughter?

I kind of liked Ravi as single and skulking around. I liked the potential with him and Chelsea from when they got back together but they quickly watered it down as they were obviously planning for this storyline.

I don’t know that Ravi the family man is really that interesting to me. There was enough to build on with Nugget. Not sure I care about a daughter.

they didn’t need to give him a family tbh (at last bit this soon!) - like you say, i think his potential is all in the other aspects of his character. while the show is improving loads lately, i still wish that they would let characters breathe before trying to throw so much at them so soon. ravi works as a brooding half-villain type, i’m not interested in him as a family man. and that includes nugget!

I just hope Chips isn’t as annoying as Nugget.

Some of the recasts are ridiculous. The 2 Sam’s are completely different characters as far as I’m concerned. Same with Peter and 7ft Peter. I mean I can’t imagine Suki showing this Peter how well she uses her mouth.

I forgot Michelle 2 had an American student toyboy? I think Sharon gave her what for, Hope Michelle comes back when Sharon gets married to Keanu to give what for too 😆

ps we can rule out Sharon not marrying Phil this Crimbo as we have an official Mrs Kat Mitchell - did anyone notice as well in the credits 😆

Don’t even get me started on Peter 3: The Return and Suki. I can’t picture this resurrected Peter with Suki as she got together with the giant Peter
