Is there anyway we can separate this thread/create a new one 'Do I need to isolate?' for the numerous posts asking who/when/why they or their brother-girlfriends-uncles-best friends-sister needs to isolate...?

Becoming overwhelming how many people are seeking advice on here, especially without reading the threads first (appreciate it's moving rapidly) 🤦🏻‍♀️

My husband has a health condition that places him in the vulnerable category but can't work from home.

He is not going out at all except driving to and from work.

I am unclear if that counts as social distancing or if he needs to be off work? His work are not understanding of the situation at all :/

If he falls under the high risk category then the gov advice is isolation for 12 weeks for the entire household.
It's not at all helpful but it's to keep him safe.
 
I have leukemia. Due to start chemo next week. I should be self isolating but have hospital appointments 3 times a week. I don't drive so have to catch public transport in order to attend my appointments. Hospital say they can't provide transportation for me. I'm worried sick

I'm so sorry you're having to worry about that on top of everything else you are going through.
Is there a local charity in your area that can potentially help you or a friend or family member?

Family all work so they're unable to help with lifts etc. There's nobody else I can ask so I have no choice but to go on public transport
 
I’m trying not to read too much because I have anxiety as it is. My gran has cancer, diabetes, COPD and has previously had a stroke. My brother still currently lives at home, he works in a bingo hall 4 days a week doing 12 hour shifts. What should he do? I think it’s a massive risk but I also understand he has to work.. Just to add my grans nurses have told her if he shows symptoms he has to move out until it’s clear. He has nowhere to go.

I don’t want to go out in case I catch it. If I do, my gran has no one to look after her 😭
 
NHS website actually says vulnerable people without symptoms should not socialise and should work from home "where possible" and if not possible wash hands when getting to work or essential appointments.
I think that's why it's so confusing ... I assume it's same for pregnant women in third trimester but not sure.
 
I have a few conditions (Not heart or lung related. I have POTS which is kind of heart related. Orthostatic intolerance) and they cause me extreme fatigue daily. My husband is asthmatic. We’re early 40s. Our eldest has mild asthma. Hubby is now working from home but eldest is still in work and kids in high school. Today I pulled the kids out of school, so now it’s just our eldest in work in an office. I can’t risk getting ill because my body is so fatigued daily without fighting a virus aswell.

We have no support if we get ill as we don’t live near family. We’re lucky our children are older. We’re deciding to self isolate now, if only our eldest could work from home, hubby ha s decided to ring their boss today to just make them aware of thr health issues we have at home and ask what can possibly be done, as she’s worried she will lose her job if she has to isolate. She hasn’t been there that long. Worrying times.

if someone has mild asthma... haven’t had an attack for years should they be at school/work?

Which is the opposite to the conference yesterday.
Not surprising no one has a bloody clue what's going on.

I saw in the other thread that ACAS have said it's employers discretion whether or not to let people who are vulnerable be off .... This is what's so tricky! It's all just guidance, nothing legal

Ahhh sorry babe. Its such a worry 😔
I don't know how people are supposed to be able to earn a living when there's vulnerable people in the house.
In the press conference yesterday they said that anyone that is highrisk needs to self isolate for 12 weeks.
It's not always possible especially when you're providing care.
But based on yesterdaya info, your brother also needs to isolate to avoid passing anything he may catch on to your gran.

Which is the problem for so many people because noone is legally covered 😔
The government need to buck up and set some actual clear rules so that people know what they HAVE to do.

Phone your GP. Depending on where you live there should be something they can offer.

Nothing constructive to offer but I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all of this. Sounds so stressful.
 
I’ve had a really tight burning sensation in my chest since about 2am, no temperature and no cough. I was putting it down to anxiety but as the day goes on my throat feels slightly swollen, no really sore as such. Don’t want to call 111 as I’m fine other than that.

You should go on the asthma UK site. They will guide you on what to do with mild asthma, I think they mentioned to start taking a preventer (brown) inhaler just in case. Carry your blue inhaler everywhere you go and also wash your hands!!
But then I saw somewhere else asthma sufferers May need to stay isolated for 12 weeks. that was on the sun website mind you 🙄🙄
