Derry Girls

its remarkable, Erin's actor hasn't improved in acting in 5 years, that's a skill right there. To be as awful as you were when the show begin as you are when it ends.

She's playing a character. If she was terrible those in charge would tell her to play Erin differently. Another plus for her is Saoirse Monica Jackson is the best looking woman in Derry Girl by a massive distance, it's not even close. Her boyfriend she puts on her Instagram account from time to time has done brilliantly for himself and must have a really good personality.....

He was in the show too

Isn't he a DJ in his own right .

Yeah they are known for punching because they are in a cool industry. As for the show I liked it but the praise for it was a bit OTT. I think it seemed more popular because it was on one of the lesser terrestrial channels. If it was on BBC or ITV I don't think it would have got as much acclaim. For all the praise it's had only Nicola with Bridgerton has had success away from the show despite it being around a fair few years now.

Was Saoirse Monica Jackson in London Irish as well? I remember watching the whole series randomly one night years ago but I guess it got cancelled

I don’t think either BBC or ITV would have touched it, to be fair. A lot of tit has gone down historically about how NI was represented inBritish media and they wouldn’t have the balls to broadcast this programme.

What was the song playing when Gerry found his razor?
Also how did he realise it was under the sink? It looked like he felt there was something under the washing up bowl and then suddenly there is the razor?

And who was the man in the photograph on Sister Michael’s desk? Was it meant to be a family member or someone famous, I couldn’t work it out.

I can't believe I'm getting into a "who's the best looking Derry Girls woman" conversation but I would have thought Jamie-Lee O'D would be generally accepted to be as attractive/more attractive than Saoirse?

It's Daniel O'Donnell

He realised it was under the sink because of what the psychic said about a red box and under water.
The photo was Jack Charlton, much beloved by Ireland football fans!

Really? I don’t find her that attractive but it’s really personal preference.
Lots of people seem to have a favourite Derry Girl but I wasn’t a fan of any of them individually, I think as a group they worked really well together (although Claire on her own in S3 was a bit too much with the shrieking voice).
I find my favourite are definitely with the adults - I loved Aunt Sarah, she was hands down my favourite character and I loved how Sarah, Gerry and Joe worked together. Sister Michael was great (though S3 wasn’t great for her) and I enjoyed the ending she had with Father Peter (even though I didn’t quite get what she meant with her phone call with the Bishop) I think I was nice they shared a drink together.

I think Ciaran’s storyline ending was sad - I don’t know if they should have married but I didn’t like how it finished. Also no idea why Ardal was in it, I think it would have been better if Colm stayed with them and had that storyline as Ardal’s inclusion just seemed so random?

So was it like ‘hang on, let me check under the sink’ or his wife gave him a sign?

He was filling a glass of water and suddenly decided to look under the sink, like it dawned on him that that must be what the psychic had meant.
Yea Joe and Sarah were my favourites too I think. Sister Michael too. Fantastic actors the 3 of them, with unbelievable comic timing.

What does her looks have to do with her acting ability? Would you judge the men on their looks too?

I am not comparing her looks to her acting ability. I am saying.....

1) She's the best looking woman on the show by a country mile.

2) If she wasn't suppose to act the way she does playing Erin then producers would tell her to do it another way. They wouldn't leave her to 'act terrible' if she was doing it wrong.

It doesn't matter if she is or not, its completely unrelated to anything. And that may be so, okay they made her out to be a bad actress, is that better?

Only just watched the final Good Friday episode, I loved it! So thankful that it ended on such a good note after a dogshit final series and bizarre penultimate episode. Claire’s dad dying was absolutely random and ridiculous, they clearly just wanted to end on a dramatic and emotional note but I thought the whole thing was just… distasteful? Definitely cheaply done - it served no purpose other than to have a tearful final moment and it was barely discussed in the following episode.

Nothing else to add except to echo the comments re Erin’s facial expressions and Claire’s over acting, when she let out that 3000 decibel death shriek in the scene where she lost her bus pass I was just confused… This is not acting? But as others have said I’m glad it’s done and dusted now and not been dragged out too long. Sad that the final series was such a let down but it will always have a special place in my heart ❤️
