No worries now, just wanted to anonymise my rant

Also the first part of my message is just asking who is she to tell anyone that they are neglecting their dogs. And that she’s just googled a few things and thinks she’s an expert now.

She replied within 10 minutes. Lol.
No problemo. I’m surprised it took her 10 minutes. She must have been eating because she’s normally glued to the internet. 😅

I don’t own a dog myself but what gives her the right to tell people (her subscribers) that they are neglecting their dogs, she knows nothing about the person making the comment. She makes me so angry
I sent her a message in the nicest way possible I could without her seeing it as abuse etc. Let’s see what she says because it’s hurtful to those who want a dog but work full time but can’t because it’s seen as neglect by the likes of Demi Donnelly. And the petty witch I am just had to add in that not everyone can work from home like you do xx

And I do own a dog, my parents work full time and my brother and me have both been in full time education and he’s fine. Granted I’m home now because I’m unemployed thanks to covid but he’s 8 and is completely fine and hasn’t been neglected so she’s full of tit xx

Ok so this might be controversial lol. But to be fair, if you’re working 9-5 I also don’t think you should have a puppy, it isn’t fair on them - people have this weird attitude that they’re entitled to dogs imo. Also 1 in 4 puppies bought in lockdown have been put in shelters.

HOWEVER demi is a big hypocrite because she works from home yet they still get sent off to this daycare place and get locked in that pen, she has no reason to do that when she’s home. I also think she should’ve adopted rather than bought puppies, that would have sent a great message to her followers, especially coming from animal activist Demi.

don’t shoot me for the first paragraph pls 🤣

I do agree with the first paragraph! I just think Demi could have done it in a that wasn't so passive agressive to anyone who slightly disagreed.

That’s just Demi, she’ll preach to the world she’s vegan but uses cosmetics tested on animals...she’s full of tit 🤣

also in the dog video she’s wayy over feeding them which is animal abuse just in a different form 🤷‍♀️

I agree with the first paragraph to some extent. I think it's fine to get a puppy and work 9-5 for example if you and your partner can break up your day and take a lunch break at 11-12 to see the puppy then the other one takes 1-2 break to see the puppy. OR if you have arrangements that the dog isn't alone for too long. If someone leaves the dog alone on regular basis for 8+ hrs then yeah, it would be neglectful.

HOWEVER, I think what people meant in the comments was how Demi doesn't seem to understand that having a full time job and a dog is absolutely doable with the right arrangements etc. she just assumes that just because you're working long hours, you will not be taking care of your pets. And the reason why she assumes that is because she is lazy! If she had a 9-5 job, you best believe she would not go for a walk with her dogs afterwards, because she'd be too 'tired'. We have to remember that Demi is no ordinary person. She is a slob and doesn't understand that her 'full day working and being busy' is people's bare minimum....
Her condescending tone and trying to be an expert and criticising people on things that she has no clue about is what rubbed people the wrong way.

on the topic of enrichment play as well- I would much rather play fetch with my dog, and teach it proper manners than rub peanut butter on some frisbee looking thing and watch the dog lick it off... She then pretends to train the dog with ham when we all know all the training is happening at the dog school. Also we all can guess that she would just use a playful voice 'Luna stop it you cutie' if Luna pees on her sofa, then she would make Sean clean it up while she stuffs her face with tenth accidentally vegan bag of bacon flavoured crisps.

Of course she has a point its just the way she put it across. People's circumstances change, if someone loves and cares for an animal and provides the best for it, but then find themselves having to leave it for a number of hours to say, put food on the table. What are they meant to do? They love their animal like a family member, do they then put it up for adoption or work around it. What's best for the animal, staying with their family or being rehomed.
She needs to be a bit more humble, her viewers and the people objecting to her statements are the very people who have enabled her to have this lifestyle and stay at home with her dogs. It could all change very very quickly and how will she afford doggy daycare then?

exactly. if she continues like this, she might need to get a 9-5 job... are we then okay to call her neglectful?

you're spot on.

shes completely out of touch. Nobody wants to leave their pet all day (just like nobody wants to leave their child in childcare all day!)
But people are forced into these situations usually due to money or circumstances. By her definition, nobody should ever have a pet. But what then - do they all sit lonely in shelters until a bleeping Youtuber can adopt them?

not that she gave a tit about the existing lonely dogs in the world and chose to promote breeding instead by buying dogs

I can't believe this absolute zoomer has said people who work full time shouldn't have dogs. Surely she doesn't actually believe that everyone that has a dog doesn't have a full time job...

Also, if it's okay for her to shove her dogs off to "school" for the whole day why can't people with an actual job do that?! At least they would have a reason for it and not just that they are bone idle.

This!!

I hope to god no one reads her moronic points of view and gets a kitten instead, because I’ve got a 15 week old Maine coon and he’s wild, definitely creates the most work out of the boyfriend, kids or the dog.
I work 12 hr shifts so I hope Demi doesn’t see this, be reported quicker than her flab flopped out in yesterday’s dancing vids.

Yes and that breeder she used had two litters at the same time, in my area we have a huuuuugggee problem with puppy farming and the puppy farmers are now stealing dogs to breed. Not saying her breeder was a puppy farmer but they're still selling dogs, which I think is a little sad tbh. As an animal lover does she not see that sadness, maybe I'm just too sentimental, but it would break my heart.
The school business is just frigging nonsense and a way for her to infantilise these poor wee creatures.
They're like the test run for children at this point, its grand if you treat your dogs like children, I know some posters have said they do, but I just don't believe Demi has genuine reasons for it. I still believe they were bought for content, sure shes become attached to Luna but what happens when lockdown ends and she wants to hop on a plane? Is it really fair to leave your dogs for 14 nights, whilst you go on a lager lout holiday with the green room from Jeremy Kyle but unfair to leave them for a few hours while you work and help the economy or provide service during a pandemic?
Seriously????

Sean works irregular/antisocial shift patterns and by himself wouldn't be able to accommodate a dog. Demi rushed into buying 2 puppies from a breeder, straight after moving in together for the first time for no other reason than the fact that she wanted 2 cute little puppies for content. Surely she knew she'd be the main one responsible for them? The her excuse for not adopting is even more flawed. She's pathetic and lazy and thinks shes too good to adopt, thats the long and short of it.

Having worked in a shelter, I can tell you that the main problem shelters have isn't people getting dogs and having to surrender them for whatever reason (whether it is lack of understanding of a dogs needs or a sudden change of situation etc) it's people like her not even considering adoption. She could've done wonderful things and promoted adoption to her viewers but no, she wanted to play puppy mammy and dog expert instead.

Also, yeah, a lot of shelters will say they don't accept people who work 9 - 5 blah blah but a lot of smaller dog rescue charities will, and look at the circumstances of the dog and the potential owner and try hard to match up on a case by case basis. She'll mainly be talking about the big ones (RSPCA, Dogs Trust etc). Yet another example of her reading the first sentence of the first google search result she can find and calling it gospel.
