Crafting

I would put it in a freezer first for a few days to make sure it doesn't have moths (this might also kill the smell) and then maybe put it in a bowl with warm water and some detergent. I wouldn't put it in the washing machine before you knit it up, it would get all tangled up.

I don’t have a bowl big enough! The ball is about 50cm high. I was thinking of handwashing it ( in the bath? ) but I have a feeling it will weigh approximately 14 tons when it’s wet, so I can see it taking about 3 weeks to dry.
As it’s all one huge ball ( as far as I can make out I think it’s a couple of balls with the ends sewn together ) I might try and knit it up then wash it.
Thank you ❤️

Wow, this is a big ball of wool!

If you have a sheltered outside space like a balcony or a terrace maybe you could put it in a bin liner and leave outside of a couple of nights in the cold, this would also kill any moths (sorry, I read the recent Times articles about moth infestations) and might help with the smell. And/or you could spray some essential Lavender oil on it.

I am moving in 2 weeks. I didn't think I had much yarn but... I have filled two 90l clothes bags with yarn, and have an overflow ' bag for life' full of scraps.

I have sorted out two ' bags for life' of yarn i don't think i will use, and am giving it to a friend at work, his daughter has just started learning.

I didn't mean to aquire this much. When I first started I had trouble working out how much I needed and what type of yarn to get. So I purchased odd amounts. I also bought yarn when I felt anxious or sad.

Anyway I am going to try and be more thoughtful with my future buying.

When I have finished my current WIP, I am going to hopefully make an early start on my first project on 2025. I have decided that I should start every year by making a scrap blanket from last years leftovers.

Last year I made an absolutely huge ' sample stitch' blanket. It is big enough to cover 2 adults watching tv on the sofa.

Not sure if this is the right place or not, I do a few different crafts an some use card/stickers, does anyone use a good printer for theirs an can recommend one? Needing it to be able to print on card, print stickers etc, don't really want to go crazy with price with these massive printers you get, just need the most basic one that will not get jammed with card in it, thanks

Some hat pins using swan and pheasant feathers that they had left behind.

I finished a cross stitch yesterday but I’m annoyed as the dries clear glue has left a couple of marks View attachment 3292089 q

I love this. It is so gruesome. Looks really neat as well.
I have been doing a Birth Sampler in cross stitch & this Week I finally got the motivation to restart Diamond Painting( I havent done any since my Mum died) Its a Sonic for my little Cousin. I've always found if its a gift i'm more likely to get a move on doing it.View attachment 3293243 qView attachment 3293244 q

Looking great so far. I have tried to Diamond paint and I wasn't very good. It made me feel stressed about getting everything in the exact right place. I envy people who can do it.

I've embroidered a monogram onto some scrap fabric I had. I want to attach it to my little ones stocking but I don't really want to stitch it on, as the edges will look really messy I think. Any other ideas on how to attach it?

Could you make it into a little tag and hang it on the stocking?
Hmm, potentially, but that would require attaching it to something I think and backing it.

The trouble is I - in my usual fashion - have not thought ahead in anyway, and just gone ahead and started stitching on some linen fabric, then cut out and probably cut it a bit close.

I think actually if I did a running stitch around it onto the stocking in a thick thread it might look ok, so I might give that a go...
