Indian variant is now a variant of concern. England have moved to the next phase of their road map. Think Wales are still locked down? Not sure about Scotland or Ireland, sorry! There's a big focus on getting people vaccinated.

Previous thread here:

I don't get the whole massive excitement about pubs opening again, given the state they are in. Need to book, you get kicked out after two hours, have to give your details? It isn't fun or normal. You get people happy they can finally have a beer again after 5 months. Do these folk realise you get beer in the shops? There seems to be a weird taboo about drinking in the house.

For me, we had our table from 9pm-1am and it was SO good to be around other people, hearing the laughter and chatter, drunkenly talking to the next tables etc. Just felt good to be in that social environment and not sitting home alone...

I should think a significant part of the enthusiasm is simply being able to have a drink somewhere that's not the same four walls yet again. Also, sitting somewhere in the presence of other people, indoors.

Small seeming stuff to a lot of us but meaningful to a lot of others.
edit: described better by Allthevest20 above :)

edit2: I do get it though, I remember the weird euphoria in the vaccination centre, more people than I had seen in one place for a year!

They're not all that military. You've just got to find the right ones.

Have a day off 🤣 all tables were 2m apart. We stayed seated. Everyone was happy.

Is that OK???

Oh yes and the police were doing routine checks in the pubs. Saw us chatting and.... OMG DID NOT arrest or even warn us.

🤣🤣 This world were living in sure is crazy. Sounds like you had a great night, I’m so glad pubs are open again. I have the odd glass of wine at home but I just can’t really get into drinking at home. Don’t know what it is.

I can't either. I mean living alone doesn't help for me as then it's drinking alone and I'm a social drinker lol I did have a great night - was for my birthday. First one since I've lost my grandparents so deffo needed!

Better not dare talk to anyone else and sit facing the wall next time I go out 🤣

Some people are bonkers. How do you think covid doesn't exist just because you don't know anyone who's had it? Why would you think the government would shut the country down for over a year just to turn us in to a cashless society? People who are scared of needles as their excuse but probably have a tattoo. These people are in our society but will be begging for help from the NHS if they get in a bad way.

“I just don’t know what’s in it”. Mate, you can literally have a list of ingredients, but they wouldn’t mean anything to you. What do you think they’re bleeping putting into it - it’s a vaccine 🤦‍♀️ Do you also ask what’s in every single meal you get at a restaurant, or every single medication the doctor gives you.
