Nearly 62,000 cases yesterday and 1300 deathsWhat’s happened to America’s numbers? Not heard about them for a bit.
1300 in one day? WowzaNearly 62,000 cases yesterday and 1300 deaths
Congratulations! I had a wedding today at work and melted my tits off. I hope it went well. The mask thing is bullshit.I'm getting married tomorrow! All guests have to wear masks, this was only told to us this Monday when updated government guidance came in. Reunited with my parents for the first time in 8 months tonight so there were lots of tears! Think my dad is quietly upset that he can't walk me down the aisle but the main thing is the ceremony can go ahead with our nearest and dearest. Got a pub meal afterwards which was touch and go this week after Boris' announcement last Friday but they've moved us to outside which given the weather forecast is 34° tomorrow is probably a good thing. Now just got to worry about sweat proofing my hair and make up
As someone who always has hiccups this is terrible news. I already get faux coughs follows by anxiety when I’m in trapped in a queue, now I need to worry about hiccuping tooThere's another new symptom now ,persistent hiccups is the next thing that could signify you have it ..
Nearly 170,000 people dead now ..in US1300 in one day? Wowza
Could do with some advice! I was forced into agreeing to a family holiday with nightmare mother in law last year. Made it clear to my partner that I didn't want to go, but in the end agreed for his sake and to keep the peace.
It's in three weeks time and so far, still going ahead. A few weeks ago I told my partner I don't want to go because I don't want to travel in a pandemic. Which is true, we've cancelled a pre-covid planned holiday. I'm not scared of getting the virus, it's just the uncertainty around quarantine/mask wearing etc...its hassle and for me not worth it. He says he doesn't want to go either but doesn't want to tell his mum. The conversation ended up with me in tears about it.
We've not discussed it since. Last night he told his mum we were still planning to go. Today he's been complaining about wearing a mask because they're so hot and oppressive, how he's dreading the flight, doesn't want to go etc. We will have to wear masks for about eight hours in total (carpark bus, airport, flight, airport the other end). He's scared of flying, too.
I've been on a travel forum for the country were going to (Greece) and there's concern there that cases are rising and people are predicting a quarantine will be introduced.
I don't know whether to sit it out and see what happens in the next fortnight, or just say now that I'm absolutely not going. Im worried that it's going to cause a huge row, but it's also stressing me out the thought of going. I realise this is a very frivolous concern in the context of the pandemic and it's wider effects.
Am I being completely unreasonable in saying I'm not going?
Nor for me...I’ve now ditched the glasses as the constant fogging up was rendering them useless anywayI tried this. Didn’t work
Are these people that are getting tested asymptomatic ? surely it means more people are showing symptoms if they're looking to be tested ,which tells me cases are increasing ...Tests are increasing at my site, I redeployed through my company to covid 19 tester 9 weeks ago and initially we were doing 30 - 40 tears a day through our lane daily (1 of 5 lanes). It remained static for about 6 weeks, the last 6 shifts I have worked we have jumped to 170+ daily the whole site was up 700 from 300 daily in the last 2 weeks!! We still have more capacity and we have a mobile walk in site (I work in a drive through facility and am an assisted tester - meaning I do the swabbing myself) that tour the locallity for those that have no car to provide tests, they are also seeing a bigger uptake in testing. Our local press are reporting we have more cases day on day , but that's down to the testing increase.
More and more sites are opening since I started so there is more capacity and anyone can get a test.
It is hoped that many of the test sites will eventually be able to offer the antibodie tests when they become available on the nhs (our site manager has had discussions with the powers at be) and eventually offer Mass vaccination sites. When I spoke to to my regional manager about how long I may be in my new role he suggested 12 months plus.
Greece aren’t swabbing on arrival. We’ve all just returned from a week in Greece. No temp checks or anything
How come it always seems to be China with these problems? Do other countries have them too and we just don't hear?2nd person has died with the plague in China since Sunday ,they've put restrictions around their home, that country needs some serious disease control
We were informed they may test on arrival, I didn’t see anyone being tested/sent to the screening area. How come ? It’s on the government website and the foreign office website too plus our tour operator confirmed this the other day
The swabbing goes off the qr code you fill in the day prior depending what number you generate but uk travellers generate the code to get swabbed
What an odd article, the body of text doesn’t say anything about the “world’s top epidemiologists saying masks don’t work”. That’s literally a headline plucked from the air. In fact the conclusion is America shouldn’t make people wear masks because “muh freedom” and because humans will naturally not engage in risky behaviour which hardly seems accurate given the growth of cases in the US.Found another article regarding masks https://www.zerohedge.com/political/worlds-top-epidemiologists-masks-dont-work
