‘He looks after me’. Your son is a child and should not be ‘looking after’ his mum. That’s not his role nor his responsibility. It’s a bleeping weird mindset and can be so damaging if she continues to push it on him like this

It reminds me so much of what my MIL did to my husband as a child. When his parents divorced my MIL would throw tantrums when he would go to see his dad. She would cry and say he was going to leave her and stop loving her because she thought he loved his Dad more. It got to the point where my husband felt guilty and as a child decided not to see his Dad anymore because he was worried about his Mum. Over time it morphed into her saying his dad didnt want anything to do with him and so he didnt reconnect with his dad until he was in his 20s. It makes me angry just thinking about it.

This tit affects the way these kids form and maintain relationships for the rest of their lives. My husband is a wonderful partner but what she did definitely had an affect on the way he sees himself and he will suffer in silence before he ever let's anyone know he's struggling with something and I honestly think that's her fault for what she did to him as a kid.
