I personally don't think it was but maybe people think that because it seemed to come out of nowhere a bit...I used to read smash hits magazine back in the day and I'm sure around the time love machine came out Cheryl was publicised as being "totally single" after she was last with that guy from PSTR then by the time of wake me up was released a few months later she was engaged!

I had my doubts about their marriage when I started to go down this rabbit hole
I was too young to really make a informed opinion when all this was going on.
some people have said they married to cover up Ashley Being gay and her being racist and gay
But none of that seems to add up because Cheryl wasn’t convicted of racism to begin with and she’d already had a short relationship with another black lad footballer Kieron dyer
And by the time the news of the world ran the gay allegations story or implied it was Ashley
him and Cheryl were already engaged and living together also they were together from 2004 till 2010 they brought a house and got married in front of all their family and friends,
They both went into grate detail about their engagement in their books
I do think it’s a bit far fetched and extreme to go to if it was a PR relationship

They always look so happy to be with each other and content and genuine I can’t say that for all the other relationship she has been in and I definitely think that Cheryl being on the X factor was the start of their marriage problems and I definitely think Cheryl was more then friendly with Simon and I think that’s what lead to Ashley cheating

He also says the new of the world and the sun was out to destroy his life so it also wouldn’t surprise me if they paid these kiss and tell girls off

It’s 100% fake. The link address is not a BBC one, there is bad grammar in the headline and throughout the whole article and the first paragraph gives it away:

Tbf I think when it came out in 2008 just before the Brits in February, it was actually that he'd cheated in 2006 a few months after the wedding so tbf don't think the X factor can be blamed as I don't think she'd even started that yet 😂
 
Cheryl and Ashley were besotted with each other but being a typical
Footballer and requiring constant validation he went elsewhere . Especially is Cheryl was on the sofa watching Corrie most nights , Ashley would shag elsewhere thinking he wouldn’t get caught . So many footballers don’t get caught cause they are so protected by their management /football club etc . I used to love her style , hair and how she looked back in the day . I say fair play to being a recluse with her son as I can’t stand people selling their kids out to the media like Billy and Sam faires do 🤢

I do think the toilet attendant was Cheryl acting like a brat thinking she could take what she wanted and get away with it . Over entitled and she was humbled real quick .

Seems she was a tough little streetfighter in her early days, she got media savvy pretty quick after the nightclub incident. Always seemed very put on when she tried to seem nice on X factor. Couldn’t help but feel she was cosplaying at being a middle class woman when she married the Frenchman (for five minutes).
