I was confused because I thought she'd gone to Weber State? I reckon the Navarro/Gabi partnership is super lucrative for both parties so Monica jus keeps bringing her back. NGL I'd be mad if I was bumped off mat to make room for Gabi just a few months before Daytona though. She still seemed to be cheering at Weber in December. If she was just in it for cheer and not for fame (not like she needs the increased fame tbh - she was already one of the biggest names in the cheer world before Cheer) I would stay at Weber - they has the highest overall score at Daytona last year. Totally agree! I donāt get how sheās even eligible but for sure they would bend the rules for her as it makes so much money for both parties. And youāre right I would be furious if I was kicked off Matt for her, not like she hasnāt been to Daytona enough already with Navarro. I think her boyfriend is now on Navarro though ? Is it Kolin? I think thatās his name?

Iām honestly not surprised. Sheās got a bit of a rep for swapping and changing teams, even mid-season or suddenly deciding to do All-Star after college cheer season is over. I think she passes it off as learning/ getting experience but to me it just comes across as she moves to get a better team position/ because it raises her platform.
And all of this moving around is alongside selling camps for an extortionate rate ($150- $10,000 per athlete). I think the general sentiment is that she started out looking for positions, then for cheerlebrity status, then licked her wounds after the lionheart fail, then back to teams with cheerlebrity opportunity with no consideration ever for who she bumps off.
- she started at TGLC in 2012 and I think finished a season with then. Iām not sure how accurate it is but there were some rumours she wanted to be centre flyer.
- moved to Trinity Allstars (2013)but I think she left mid season. There was talk of management issues there and sheās mentioned herself being on teams that donāt work hard/have the ethic so itās kind of assumed it wasnāt a good fit.
-went to California Allstars Smoed (2013-2014/15) as they started filming their YouTube show. Her mum moved with her for a year or so and rented a house / acted as house mum for out of state cheerleaders. She was centre flyer for the whole time she was on the team. She left smoed mid her third season. This was around the time the YouTube series started to get a bit of flack, she cited being homesick as one of the reasons.
-joined Gymtime Blink (2015) where they started their own YouTube show, she was their centre flyer, they are in Kentucky I think so the homesickness doesnāt quite add up.
-left after one season to got to lionheart (2016), which was largely perceived as her own gym where she made herself CF. They performed NCA but not sure they went to worlds or performed again. It was really bad. Blame went on everything from athletes travelling, Gabi having pushy parents and wanting her to have her own gym.
-for the next two seasons (2017-2018)she was at wildcats and was really pretty quiet. She kind of fell of the radar a bit. She got challenged a lot for being a gym hopper and this at least made it look like she was going there to learn and grow
- for 2019 -2020 next move was Navarro where it gets a bit complicated because you can compete at AS as well as college for some teams.
- during worlds 2019 sheās āfilled inā for an injured athlete for California Allstars Reckless- which didnāt go down too well since surely thereās reserves who now didnāt get the opportunity. got a lovely YouTube show cameo alongside it.
-in 2020 she also competed with TopGun 00
-In 2021 she and another athlete made a beggy post about competing at worlds and she ended up taking the mat with Steele athletics slate.

I think I read that with Reckless they had quite a few injuries that season and didn't have any alternates who could step in as a flyer which is why Gabi got the call. They would have needed someone they knew would be able to nail the routine in a short space of time and it was a centre flyer position so you can't just stick anyone up there and hope for the best. I've seen teams at Worlds have people competing in different uniforms because they needed a fill in at short notice and didn't have alternates available for that position so it does happen.
I sometimes wonder how different her cheer career would have been if she had stayed on TGLC. She was already so well known in the cheer community when she left Top Gun that I wouldn't have been surprised if CA invited/sponsored her to move to Smoed as she would have been a huge draw for the web series. I never really followed co-ed teams at that time so I didn't watch a lot of it (I'm a large all girl division stan). In reality she was still a young kid back in those days and was probably going where her parents wanted her to go and they were following the money.
Lots of high school kids in America move cross-country for cheer though so it's not unusual.

I could be COMPLETELY wrong so please someone correct me if I am wrong but I THINK, this is just their training uniform? Like the sports bra and shorts are for training and then they will actually perform in their uniforms. On Monicaās Insta she uploaded their show off performance and they were in Navarro uniforms then with the poof and the bow etc!

Lots of team practice wear doesnāt have the team name on it but I think they do also have ones that say Navarro.

Yes please!! I watched a tiktok of Trinity Valleyās show off (or whatever they call it hahah) and although it was clean I wasnāt very impressed.Itās Daytona day 1 today! Iāll be watching on Varsity TV - do people want updates on how the routines go? I can hide behind a spoiler tag if preferred

I don't think there's been one officially announced but it's probably quite likely. I'd love to see them feature other college cheer teams though rather going back to Navarro every year. It will get stale eventually.

Hoping we get some day 1 scores made public later today and can get an idea of where things are sitting going in to day 2. If anyone remembers my previous post where I analysed last years scoresheets (it's post 72 on page 4), day one is usually 25% of your final score and day two is 75%. So there's everything still to play for.
Didn't feel they looked super confident. They had a fall in the elite unassisted stunt section at the start, and then the same flyer had a bobble (where the stunt wobbles but doesn't come down) and then there was a major fall in pyramid. Like centre flyer on the mat type major fall. Luckily everyone looked ok and they got the stunt back up for the end of the pyramid. There was some INSAAANE tumbling though so they just need to hit those stunts for day 2. I reckon a 2 point deduction for them today.
A hit for Navarro. Routine looked fab. Nothing else much to add
