I think that in older generations of black families smacking was more normalised. Doesn’t mean it’s okay though.

I’m mixed race by the way, which makes me more qualified to speak on this than Cathy.

She probably thinks she’s being a good ally, but really should have kept quiet on this one. Major cringe.

A majority of my friends are black and since I was young I have always been extremely close with their families. I am white btw and have had the threat of a beating from my friends Jamaican granny (that means I'm family now right?!)
I can see how Cathy may think she is being a good ally as older generations within black families may think smacking is how to best discipline a child....buttttt, I have seen this wayyyyy more from white families - even more with in my own family and white friends of my parents.

She should not have put this online....it screams out to me as being performative and has the ability to offend all black families - even I'm feeling offence on behalf of my friends who I know wouldn't have even seen her post!

Edit to add -
I've just re-read this and I really hope I am not coming across as 'oh look at me I have black friends' because I totally don't mean it that way!
I just mean, I have seen how both white and black family dynamics work, especially with elders when it comes to how children are disciplined.
Smacking or violence in any form is unacceptable and is an outdated and awful way to treat anyone - especially children and those that are more vulnerable in our world.
xx

I totally agree and didn’t take any offence from what you said :) It is what it is.

It would be one thing if she was amplifying black women’s voices but I have not seen once black woman complaining about this.
“wE cAn’T sMAck OuR cHILdreN anY mORE 🥴

Still, this is all very entertaining. Anyone willing to take one for the team and join Patreon?

She's absolutely basing her tit take on the old racist TV trope of black mama whoopin the kids ass, along the same lines as all Asian families being disappointed in anything thats not an a+, its outdated and presumes that only white people are capable of progress. The area in which I live is multicultural and the only parents I've ever known to smack yheir kids are white.

I can’t speak on behalf of POC but as a white mid 30s year old, almost every white family I know smacked their kids when I was small, and I know the odd family now who do. I’m by no means educated in the history of corporal punishment for children in black or brown families but this seems based on a huge racial stereotype… Oh the irony 🥴

White mid twenties year old here and same 🙋‍♀️ See ask washing our mouths out with soap when we swore 🥴

So glad everyone is in agreement on Cathy's tweets... I actually can't believe she's written that!

I work in safeguarding and it is mentioned in training that families from certain cultures/countries are more likely to use physical punishment but we would NEVER identify concerns due to the skin colour of parents. Such a lazy and offensive stereotype! As others have said, there are plenty of white British families who smack their kids too.

Incredibly racist and I really hope someone calls her out on this.

I’m white and grew up being smacked as discipline. (not on the daily just as and when, I’m fine, not traumatised and my parents now know it was wrong). Not gonna lie I gasped when I read her tweets!! Just because she’s got black children, does not make her qualified to speak on tit like this?? I feel like she thinks just because her kids are black, she is also!

Oh ps please someone take one for the team and sub to her patreon 😂

I don’t need more ideas of people to hate stalk Cathy 😭
Unsurprisingly the @polyamfam account is a distinctly average looking and hugely annoying man.

Great redaction of participants there Cathy, what the duck was the point of that. All their names are visible.

Looks like she’s now getting more work thanks to her new found polyamorous identity. I imagine she will now she’s apparently queer too, being disabled isn’t enough in this day and age. I can’t help but think she has an ulterior motive with these new labels.

Also can she stop doing those bleeping videos where she grins then looks manicly at the camera and away again. They’re so weird!

To all of these, duck off Cathy 🙏🏻

So very glad she has been cut from the programme. She’s not bitter at all though, she’s just slating it completely before it’s been aired.

Sex positive 🥴
