Casualty

Dwelling on it... when did Casualty move away from focusing on the 'major accident of the week' scenes?

It used to be fun before when you could guess just how random guest actors of the week might get injured.

I assume they chopped the scenes in favour of the 'grittier' focus on the staff?
Presumably it is also cheaper not doing as many stunts and big accidents? The show has had its budget cut.

Ah was thinking it was some thing like that. Am in the RoI so don’t have access to bbc I player due to geolocking (the last time I checked). I’ll just have to wait… 🤣 thanks

Don't read if you haven't watched today's episode.

made the mistake of watching the early release episode. In tears before 9am. Poor Rash. Could see this building but even so.
Oh my gosh. I ugly cried during three different bits of that. Spartacus, Rash and Dylan's autism results. I think both storylines (Rash and Dylan) have been done incredibly well. Particularly Dylan's because it's been building for years and it's been done in a really natural way and that's quite a rare presentation on TV, even these days. I suspect it was never meant to be a 'known' thing (just implied) but the writers have listened to viewers and have built the character layers accordingly. That's really talented writing (in my opinion).

I’ve been rewatching the old episodes. Big stunts were only ever first and last episodes. What we’ve lost though is the focus on the patients before they end up in hospital.
I must admit I've stopped watching, and haven't watched for months. All my faves left and the stories bored me and I hated most of the new characters.

Sidenote: I did see Amanda Henderson (Robyn) in Come From Away the other day, she was very good in that. Was a great show and she's a good singer.

Even if they don't do the patient outside the hospital bit, all that will still be location filming etc which will cost more than just filming on set.

I can't work out if Cam and the bloke he knew as a teen is the introduction to a really awful grooming storyline (as in he groomed him when he was young and now he's back and will do similar), or the start of Cam realising he's gay. I have a horrible feeling it's the former which will make viewing less light amd fluffy.

I like the Dylan/lady who was in Eastenders storyline.

I'm not keen on the nurse manager/Stevie one. I thought it was a bit random that they were pushing them bonding. Now we know why *shoehorn alert.

I said I thought it would be a grooming storyline to my husband. I can see it, that guy is too good to be true. And he’s a board member who just happens to be around all the time - okay then.

Why haven’t they mentioned Iain? He was battered last episodes then this one back to normal Faiths working etc? I thought it was going to be one of those 12 hours earlier things but literally nada
