New here, I'm confused, like I love the m8 ret, but why do I find her so fking smug?
They launched a few years ago as a ‘member only club’. You paid a monthly membership fee, for a given ‘allowance’ to shop their products at cost price. They were big on transparency - if a product cost £5.42 they’d tell you split - ingredients, manufacturing, testing etcWhat happened with beauty pie? I don’t know the story!

A couple of years ago they upped their membership fees but essentially gave close to unlimited allowance under the new membership scheme. At the same time, the ‘cost’ prices of their products also massively increased. They said it was due to covid, but they also removed the transparent pricing element on each product page, so I’m guessing that wasn’t the whole story.
members who had accrued a lot of allowance were quite annoyed, as their allowance sort of became worthless, and they then had to pay a lot more for their products.. Many people cancelled.
They now pay lots of influencers including Hirons to promote their products. So their whole ‘cut out the middleman’ and ‘we have no marketing budget’ thing doesn’t really ring true anymore
It all just sounds so dodgy. Like, why not just make a product and sell it?Not forgetting that all those years ago it was Nellie that encouraged most Freakoids to sign up to Beauty Pie using her discount code.
I foolishly signed up.
Thankfully it was only £5 a month but then you feel stuck because if you missed a month you’d lose all of your accrued spending allowance. I kept it going for way too long because I had paid the equivalent of £60 a year to be a “member” and I didn’t want to feel like I’d wasted my money. Then they upped the minimum monthly subscription to £10.
I did a couple of orders to use up some on my accrued allowance (it didn’t even make a dent in it!) and then cancelled.
I wish I’d never signed up to it in the first place but back then I trusted Nellie when she said how great it was.
If Space NK/Cult Beauty, etc said I could only buy their products at RRP if I paid £60 a year membership otherwise I’d have to pay the overinflated price then I’d never shop with them.
I was so stupid. Sadly I wasn’t the only one.
You don’t have to buy something every month but if you cancel your subscription you’ve only got a limited time to spend your “allowance” so yeah it gets the FOMO going. Anything that makes the actual price of something so difficult to figure out is a scam.Yikes! So you have to buy something every month to keep your credit? Is that right? Let’s get more people in debt hirons!
Did anybody get the email that the kit is sold out! But when i looked the kit was not sold out. Must be a tactic to get the FOMOs buying
That sounds like a pain in the ass. Can’t we just buy something ? Geez. Anything that renews every month is not for me. I end up wasting money by not using it.

I don’t need an “allowance” I’m a grown-up. Lol
It’s just a big fat scam. Overpriced meh products. And anybody who says otherwise is only justifying their membership to themselves and everybody else. Very good marketing of underwhelming productsThey are now trying to push the annual membership. £59 a year for the privilege of being able to buy their products - please note the £59 does not come off the price of your products, you pay for those on top!
That is understandable, I can see how different pigments may be more or less expensive that others. However, if I were Marcia/BP, I’d have averaged out the cost across the shade range. I expect that if you ask most makeup brands if there was a price difference across their shades in the same foundation they’d agree that there was.. but the optics of this were terrible!!I remember BP putting prices up during lockdown and that didn't sit right for me, then it transpired that their dark foundations were cheaper than their light ones. Of course they didn't realise. Okay
Oh wow good on your friend for leaving then!Someone I know started working for CH last year and made a big song and dance about how it’s her dream job etc etc. She’s just posted about how proud she is for “leaving a toxic, emotionally and physically draining workplace” even though it was her dream. Looks like the oaf is just as vile in real life as she comes across online
