Last time i was hooked up like that i was also hooked to a Morphine drip, and although feeling like crap i was in no pain. what is the thing on the nose for?

It's likely a " naso gastric tube" ...its put up the nose and into the stomach, after surgery or sometimes before, to drain fluid etc off the stomach....basically to help stop vomiting and rest the stomach and bowel.
