You're completely right about red flag Stephen. He's been completely checked out of that marriage and disinterested in his wife for years. Remember when she recalled her first day in her teaching job? & Stephen said to her as she left for work "When you get home I don't want to know how your day went, so don't expect me to ask you about it" 🚩

To be fair if I lived with the overbearing, dramatic, conceited slug, I wouldn’t want to hear about her day either

They're relationship is littered in red flags!! However we feel about Emma, that a deeply unpleasant thing to have said to you on your first day in a new job. No wonder she's absolutely gagging for attention if that's his level of interest. I think they're both unpleasant and unfulfilled people trapped in their loveless, sexless marriage and if he had an ounce of gumption or she wasn't the laziest person alive, they'd probably be divorced.

No, she was Head of RE. Though she also didn't seem to realise that religions other than Christianity exist until recently, so her grasp of her chosen subject was just as poor as her English!
