As someone who has an alcoholic sister, BM is alcohol dependant at best and a full blown alcoholic at worst. Most people have an idea in their mind of what they think an alcoholic is - usually the drunk guy passed out on a bench at 10am or something similar - however in the majority of cases alcoholics are just 'normal' people that you would never suspect. Teachers, lawyers etc, people function pretty well and are still alcoholics.

The fact BM cannot seem to cope with any unexpected situation, good or bad, without having a drink is a huge red flag. The fact that she thinks drinking a bottle of wine every night is normal enough that she will post it on social media is a red flag. The fact she is willing to get blind drunk whilst having children in her care is a red flag. I hope she recognises this and gets help for it while she is still able to function, because trust me, from experience, it doesn't take long until the alcohol and your dependence on it starts destroying your life- and your children.
