I'll take that bait. Here's the list I send to anyone who ever asks me.
1) Two can't miss restaurants if you are a little bit adventurous: Zuma at Cosmo & SUSHISAMBA at Palazzo (both are my favorites). If you want a Steakhouse, there are some great ones. I am fond of Vic & Anthony's at Golden Nugget for some reason. The PreFixe meal for $52 is a terrific value. Another good value is the place Katie & Spencer went at the Mirage, Osteria Costa (Italian).
If you are looking for meals with fun character and good food: Pick from Hugo's Cellar at Four Queens, Casa Di Amore, or Piero's. If Piero's, order the Garbage Caesar salad (even if it isn't on the menu).
2) See the show Absinthe at Caesars Palace. Just trust me. Do NOT look up anything about it beforehand. Enjoy the surprise.
3) If you remember the 80's (and you look past his questionable past), there is something satisfying about seeing David Copperfield up close at the MGM Grand. Play some blackjack first and then upgrade yourself to the Meet & Greet if you get up a $100. Fun photo for the Instagram.
4) If there is a big concert in town, be spontaneous and check Craigslist at around 6PM that night. All the Casino VIPs pick-up their tickets around then and try to dump them for cash so they can keep gambling instead. Good value and great seats but you need the nerve to play the game.
5) If you like the pool scene, there are so many that are a blast. Bare at the Mirage has a great vibe - no matter your age. If you aren't into the club scene but love the pool, stay at the Wynn and enjoy their pool. Wynn is my favorite hotel (pricier but it is your 40th). Have a few drinks and you'll feel like you are in your own James Bond movie.
6) Off Strip adventure? Frank's Tiki Room. Put $100 into the video blackjack machine and hit Max. Bet. Win or Lose, your drinks will be comped.
7) Take 30 minutes to go see the show "Brilliant" at the Neon Museum. Don't research it beforehand. Just trust me and be surprised.
8) Go to the LINQ parking garage and reenact the scene from Calvin Harris' Music Video "Bounce" (my favorite song of all time). You can also do the same with the pedestrian bridge South of Harmon Blvd. *BOUNCE*
9) If you want to gamble for cheap and learn the games, go to OYO (former Hooters) and play $1 Blackjack and $5 Craps with some interesting characters. Not quite the old Casino Royale $3 vibe but worth it.
10) Love people watching? On a Friday Night or Saturday Night, wait to eat a late meal at the Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian (not the Palazzo) and ask for a table that's on the indoor patio by the casino floor. There will be an ATM by the restrooms in your direct line of sight. Watch all the "independent contractors" drag men over and over to the ATM machine and then head up to their rooms together all with just a single head swivel.
I'll stop at 10 but if you want more - let me know! Also, UncleLester will buy you a Drink and a Shrimp Cocktail (offer stands for anyone that comes to Vegas).
