so I’m about to start s6/e5 BD Med.

Roy Orbison Jr is a train wreck 😳. Lexi definitely hates that she isn’t the centre of male attention and is taking it out on everyone. Matt the chef is a flaky pain in the arse and from the preview, it looks like he’s going this episode. Also, I cannot be doing with Lloyd’s ‘tache.

Jeez, this is a messy episode (s6/e5 BDM). Ridiculous drunken drama.

I LIVED for this episode 😂😂 the drama! Honestly I was gasping so much my boyfriend didn’t know what was going on 😂

Does anyone else just a feel a little bit uncomfortable about that episode? There’s no way she should have been allowed to stay!
Yes, that girl has some serious issues I don’t think the safety of the crew was taken into account by the captain. She should have listened to Katie.

Also was surprised that Mathew came back, I’m sure if COVID quarantine was an issue himself and Lexi would have been permanently removed from the boat. Big difference in how both reacted the morning after, one full of regret the other acting like she was right anyway.

I can’t believe the chef came back!! I understand why Sandy let him stay for this charter, they would be screwed otherwise. I just hope she does get rid of him after this charter and doesn’t let him stay. As for Lexie, she is absolutely vile, totally unacceptable that she is still there. Sandy definitely didn’t know the full extent of what happened, I think the fact that Lexie spoke to her first and made light of the whole thing maybe made her think it wasn’t that serious. I think if she had heard from mzi and Lloyd exactly what happened to them it may have been different

Malia should have stepped up as their leader and told Sandy but she left it all to Katie.

Also there was no mention of the amount of times Mzi hit his head and should have gone to get checked out.

I actually pity Matt at this point. His anxiety is ruining his life. When he panics, he runs! He needs to sort that out (therapy, meds, whatever it takes) or he'll never be able to keep a job. Chef Rachel also quit repeatedly and was kept around, even though she insulted the crew and embarrassed the whole boat when drunk. They both have demons, albeit different ones.
It was his sincere apologies to each and every person (even the ones he didn't interact with during his fit the night before) and his insistence to do his best before leaving that got me on his side. He reminded me of Kiko doing his best even though he was fired (although Kiko is a gem of a human being and nobody compares to him).

Lexi...knows exactly what she is doing. I don't think she was all that drunk; I suspect she had just enough drink to let out all the ugliness inside her. She remembers everything and that's why she got to Sandy first and played it off like it was nothing. Her inability to then take ownership of her actions and instead make the victims apologize to her made me rage! She is toxic af and I hope her arse gets flamed all over the net for what she has shown herself to be.

Why on earth Malia didn't speak to Sandy about it is beyond me. And I agree, Captain Lee would have done what he did before, i.e. take a full account from each crew member and then fire Lexi based on the facts.

Watching an abuser like Lexi get to smirk as she calmly walks away from the damage she has caused brings up all my own memories of abuse and how they got to walk away without any consequences. It's so unfair but is also representative of real life, where victims often end up having to placate and apologize to their abusers just to keep things moving forward, whilst the perpetrators have no consequences to their actions.

I wonder, does everyone else agree that Lexi was abusive or do you see her as merely insubordinate/rude/misbehaved? I just wonder if I have a bias due to my own life experiences.

Oh god yea I completely forgot about Mzi hitting his head! And in the taxi with a mouth full of blood 🙈

Lexi was definitely abusive, there’s no doubt about it. Sorry to hear of your own experiences x

I thought that was strange Malia not going straight to sandy, she was quick enough to throw Hannah under the bus, I think what Lexi did was much much worse. It feels like Lexi is a ticking time bomb, refers herself to Satan and has a burn list, she needs help pdq.

I think Lexi still being employed is down to 3 factors

1) Katie’s weak management style. I’ve seen very little management or leadership from her in any sense, never mind when things got sticky with Lexi. She just checked out and left her team member merrily abusing the other team (inc senior staff).

2) Sandy shut Katie down when she went to escalate concerns. Lexi shouldn’t have been invited in to the first meeting, it was intended as a private conversation where a manager could escalate a problem to their manager. Sandy didn’t listen to the issue and basically told them to get on with it. It felt like a set up though as the door wasn’t closed l, which surely it would be if you were going to have a sensitive conversation? Then again, when Katie came back to Sandy to say there were still issues, Sandy ignored her concerns and just told her to make friends and get on with the job.

3) Covid quarantine. I think I’m the same way that Mat wouldn’t have stayed as long as he has, Sandy would have been more receptive to Lexi leaving if getting replacement crew on board wasn’t so hard. In the past, when Capt Lee handed you your ticket, he could phone Norma and a replacement BD bot would appear in a few hours. Now everyone has to quarantine for a week, it’s not that easy and so Sandy is having to put up with all this bad behaviour from crew because the alternative is no crew at all.
