I truly hope that he doesn’t get invited into schools to “inspire” them. Mental health for men is still an area that wrongly holds a lot of taboo. Imagine the knobless gnome coming to preach to a group of high school kids, and they start seeing him as a sort of role model. After all, his Instagram page is him shirtless, punching the air and kissing babies, with loads of comments from women. What a lot of boys dream of! (You’d never know his “job” is raising money for young people fighting fearlessly with childhood cancer) They follow him on instagram and watch some of his motivational videos. Say these young people are struggling with their mental health and think they’ll get insight and support via his page. They hear him dissing getting help from counsellors, think that they are weak and need to “man up”, and eventually feel like they’re a failure because they are struggling to overcome a difficult time in their life. They cant help but feel worse that everyone else is able to work through their pain by getting out of bed, going for a run, having an ice bath, getting massages from physios. They want to open up to the friend, parent, teacher, but hear Ashley in their ear telling him on my weak people need therapy. When someone is at the edge, it doesn’t take much to tip them over. How will he feel if something dreadful happens because of the negative messages he is spreading?? He will probably write a condescending and wanky post with the young person with a lions mane around his head saying that he was a champ, and ask if the young persons parents would like Ashley to deliver the eulogy.
It sounds extreme, but worryingly accurate
