By dirty I don’t mean gross. I should’ve worded it better. What I meant was impure. If your Muslim, you’ll understand what I mean by impure.Khaleeji men do not grow up thinking that women are dirty, what kind of idea is that? Why would they want to marry the same women that they believe are “dirty”? That seems to be something that your Saudi friend and the people around him grew up hearing, but that isn’t a common sentiment.
The thing is that everything is segregated; schools, gatherings, weddings, diwanyas or jalsat, mosques. Even the restaurants in Saudi were segregated up until recently. Because of that they are always surrounded by members of their own sex, they were the only options. That’s why a lot of men experimented with each other, and a lot of women experimented with each other. Some people are gay, which is normal, but a lot of people were looking for a sexual outlet. Unfortunately, that leads to a lot of sexual abuse within extended families and rape in public schools. I’ve heard many stories about sexual assaults happening in all girls schools. However, I was in a mixed private school so homosexuality was not common at all. There were a few but overall much less than public schools. I think bisexuality is super common though.
