Well said ; that's why people from Geneva do their shopping in France or increasingly leave the city to live on the French border where the rent is half the price. But because of the ongoing process that I've mentioned (the departure of foreign fortunes), Geneva will gradually become a city like any other city in EU with nothing more to offer. It might get cheaper.

Just to say @Bastine de Beaumanoir that it's really refreshing to have you back - your local knowledge of Switzerland was dearly missed. Not sure why Aija thinks she can fool anyone with the rubbish she spits out about how she now loves Switzerland, especially when (just like @Pardon my French said) she trashed Switzerland so many times before. Looking forward to the discussions:)

Some supporting evidence for Bastine's overview: There is a paper published this month on how a change in the Swiss tax system led to a certain degree of capital flight.
This is the abstract:
"We collect, digitize, and supplement Swiss rich lists published in the “BILANZ” business
magazine since 1989, to gain new insights on the structure and dynamics of top wealth in
Switzerland. We show that 60% of the super-rich are heirs—a fraction twice as large as in
the US, where many super-rich are self-made—and that half of the super-rich residing in
Switzerland are foreign-born. Based on this new dataset, we estimate the sensitivity of the
location choice of super-rich foreigners to a preferential tax scheme, under which wealthy
foreigners are taxed on their expenses, rather than their true income and wealth. We are
the first to evaluate this infamous policy (which bears similarities with “non-dom” taxation
in the UK or Italy), and show that when some Swiss cantons abolished this practice, their
stock of super-rich foreigners dropped by 30% as a consequence. We find no response for
the unaffected Swiss super-rich. "

Yes Kiwi_01, unfortunately thing are realy bad, but of course they can't tell it loud in the newspapers. Credit Suisse is also losing billions right now, they are selling theirs historical buildings in Zurich in order to resist. It's an ongoing process, the effects on the economy will last for years to come.

It started with a change in taxes and the cancellation of the banking secrecy (under US and EU pressure) and it continues with the "Russian example", hence foreigner investors or rich people are affraid now to leave their money in Switzerland which is no longer seen as a neutral/safe country because it has gone in 2022 after personal property by freezing assets and seizing private properties. Rich people put their money in Chinese banks now. They don't want to suffer the same thing if one day their country is seen as a geopolitical threat by US or not aligned with the Americans in their sanctions against Russia (which is the case of MBS). But this reality is still a taboo in the official explanation of the departure of capital from Switzerland or EU. I am telling you about it only to underline, ONCE AGAIN, Anna's complete ignorance of what's really going on in Geneva, in her dear "affluent circles".

Our dear Ratty shared a video where a guy is talking that if he was a woman he wouldn't open his door, split the bills, choose where to eat or where to go on the evening. And guess what? This is really sad. Living the life someone chooces for you and not having anything to say in such a basic thing as where to eat out. That's not a good life, it's actually quite toxic and I thought such views were no longer promoted.
Our Ratty should change her plastic surgeon. I'm sorry to say but soon she won't have to wear a costume for Halloween, because she'll be already looking scary enough. Few years ago she didn't look that bad, but currently she looks overdone and it's actually making her look much older, as if she was in her 50s...

I know this is totally unrelated to Anna drama, but where did you get this information? For what has been saying in my country, people still trust Western banks. Wealthy Chinese and other Asians do not mostly trust their country’s system hence they are storing their money in the west. But yes Anna Bey keeps being ignorant about everything related to the real world.

I watched the video and it's so toxic, this view that if a man decides what to do, what to spend money on and where to eat (and probably where to live and how many kids to have etc), that this is how it should be - no! That's not treating a woman "like a queen"!

It reminds me of families in the 70s or 80s where the man was the patriarch, deciding everything and the wife went grocery shopping with money he allowed her to spend and cleaned the house 😐

I'm talking about the current trend in the banking system, one shouldn't understand my words like « EVERY SINGLE riche people put their money in chinese banks now ». It's a trend not a generality. Nevertheless, it's something you'll eventually hear about even in your country, in the years to come. At the instigation of China & other countries a serious procces of de-dedollarization started in 2022 (the dollar is no longer considered as the reference currency for the transactions) and China is currently building a system parallel to SWIFT in order to avoid the Western stranglehold on the International banking system (it's mainly SWIFT which gives the power to US and EU to sanction countries and people they don't like). This is a reality that will be a MSM reality no later than this year, there is no way to hide it. Please, read my ancient messages to learn how I get those informations, it would derail too much the discussion if I give détails.
 
If this is her place then it is not eleghhhaaaant or affluent at all. What's more even my grandfather's flat looks better than this. How old is this floor. I want to hear why she can't rent an appartment with proper floor and walls if she is such a 'millionair'

Scammabey’s announcement that she is planning an October 2023 meet up of her A-listers is ridiculous as it’s so far in advance that not many will remember this and hold her accountable.

She is very typical of those women on the “Real Housewives of (insert city)….” TV series in US that try to appear wealthy and well connected and who are quickly unmasked as women who have no money and a closet full of fakes. At the end of the day, all this elitism and fakery is smoke and mirrors to gain followers to hopefully benefit financially from endorsements and collabs. Sad state of our world these days.
