I can’t even with some of the comments saying to not listen to people with long term side effects. Like really? You’re going to sit there and further invalidate people who’ve been trying for years to get people to listen to the possibility that a drug that causes serious birth defects in the short term might just have some longer term side effects?

Also, no Alice. No one should see your journey as it’s probably going to be made out as sunshine and rainbows and that you had a dream experience because you used x product and have your fancy person dermatologist.

Self important much? 🙄

of course she looks better after with a FILTER. Look at her face. A totally different shape!

So crazy. Not that she is unusual in feeling low, but she does seem to be someone who feels all these things regularly - I’d be so scared of going on this drug if i was already prone to these.

I had the exact same thoughts about this. It’s frightening that she appears to be willing to set all of this aside in order to clear up some spots.

Whilst I appreciate she wants to sort her skin out I swear it got better when she went on the contraceptive pill and she said it did. Now, I’m not suggesting she should take it if she doesn’t want to but in all honesty I’d far rather take that than potent Roaccutane with her history of mental health issues. Surely it’s worth a try again? She’s very low risk for being on the pill and it might really help.

She couldn’t get out of a bed a month ago for a week for being so low. I think her prescriber is being sucked in by her desperation rather than making sure she’s stable enough to cope with things. The number of people chiming in that’s it’s the best thing ever that they’ve done is feeding her self serving bias.

She’s probably going to have to go on the pill and be covered by it to take accutane anyway. So it would have been worth a shot. You have to be on double contraception (so pill or implant etc as well as using condoms if having sex)

It can cause really serious birth defects if you happen to get pregnant while taking it so have to double up and really make sure that's not going to happen.

It can't just be me thinking her skin isn't that bad. And she can cover it so successfully. She wears make-up around the clock anyway, is it really worth all of those risks just to be able to look nicer without a bit of concealer?

The fancy restaurant thing winds me up. I get going out for a nice meal if it's a special occasion or a one-off but she seems to do it constantly. It just makes me think of what else that money could be going on, instead of food that you enjoy for half an hour and probably never think of again!

Gads I hope she does read here re roaccutane. She must be desperate to go on it but not desperate enough that she won’t go make up free for a bit???!

My brother had a horrible horrible time with it, developed psychosis and was suicidal. My friends brother also developed manic depression, was suicidal and had to drop out of uni. It’s so awful.

The fact you HAVE to be on contraception to go on it (and usually sign a waiver if not) because of the potential harm to a baby just shows how bad it is surely? You also cannot drink while on it because of the risk of liver damage.

I bet she’s been talking to Lydia Millen - she was on roaccutane too for non existent acne a few years ago.

Correct me if I’m wrong but i think its super dangerous for unborn babies and causes spontaneous miscarriages and birth defects
Correct, I’ve just finished my course, I signed a waiver as didn’t want to be on any contraceptives but I’m single. Preg tests before every prescription and would have had to terminate had I ended up pregnant.
I had to cut my course short as couldn’t hack going above 25mg per day (should have ended up on 60/80mg per day for my weight), my hair fell out in clumps, eyelashes and brows fell more easily, had horrid rashes, nosebleeds, sty’s, and the joint pain on 20mg was awful, couldn’t work as hard in the gym and any walking over around 5k steps left me unable to stand properly the next day. It’s a mega drug… yes it works for most people but Jesus Christ image all I’ve listed above on top of poor mental health and the effect it can have on that. So many other options to try first!!!

That sounds hideous, are you ok now?

Her skin did look sore this morning so i see why she wants to sort it but seems like she wants a quick fix and hasnt stuck to anything long enough.

Mines been awful since i came off the pill but i found nip & fab salycillc wash twice a week really helped and i take my make up off as soon as i finish work and nevet wear it to the gym.

I wonder why she feels so much pressure to go to such an extreme? Esp when she preaches about accpetance and imperfections being ok.

I kind of feel sorry for her. She's so insecure and clearly needs support.

I am ok now thank you, dryness, sty’s, muscle and joint pain gone, hair still falling out but apparently that should subside once the drug is fully out of my system. It was the only option left for me due to how oily my skin was. I had most of my acne on my back and that’s gone.. whether it comes back we shall see. It really needs serious consideration this drug. I’d tried the pill, numerous antibiotic courses, topical drugs and nothing worked. It took 5 years of using those things before the nhs would go the accutane route. Any private derm will not hesitate to go straight for accutane by all accounts (I nearly went private but couldn’t afford to)
She definitely needs support (and to try other medicated options) before jumping into accutane.. it’s such a serious medication

Correct. If you get pregnant you have no choice but to abort. The baby would have very serious defects.
No this is completely untrue! Getting pregnant on this drug gives you a high risk of birth defects in your baby, but nobody can force you to abort, well in the uk anyway.

The only way she is getting this drug is paying privately. No way would any normal dr prescribe that drug for her skin. My Husband took it for severe scarring acne on his back. It was very effective, and can be life changing for people who have severe acne. I think we can all agree that this is not the case for her. It’s dangerous to prescribe it in her current mental state, but you can buy anything these days.

Might not be how the law is written but myself, my sister and a female friend have been on this drug at age 15-16. Granted it was under the same hospital so they might all have the same spiel. We were all told that we’d have no choice but to abort- as a 15 year girl we were all terrified. I know I won’t be alone in it being positioned as your choice being taken away.
